Two-week review of non-implant rhinoplasty

I never thought I’d end up having my first rhinoplasty in my late 30s lol. When I was young, I only thought about it vaguely and moved on, but as I got older, the areas that bothered me in the mirror seemed to grow. My bridge wasn’t particularly low, so when I casually asked people around me, everyone said my bridge was fine and asked why I needed surgery, warning that it might look obviously surgical or awkward if I touched it unnecessarily. But my personal stress was different. From the front, my tip looked blunt and spread to both sides in photos, giving a strong bulbous-nose impression, and the slight bump in the middle of my bridge made my impression look less clean. I had been self-conscious about this for years. While I was thinking I wanted to sort it out neatly before getting any older, a friend at a gathering recently, after a few drinks, seriously told me that I would look much more sophisticated if I just refined the tip slightly. Hearing aloud the concern I had kept to myself felt like being hit over the head, and I decided I should properly research it this time instead of delaying again. From that day, I searched like crazy lol. Since it was my first surgery and I’m older, safety and naturalness were my top priorities, so I carefully chose about three clinics for consultations. The first said that to file the hump and make the bridge smooth and straight, I absolutely needed an implant. But I was satisfied with my natural bridge height, and the idea of silicone felt burdensome and uncomfortable, so I passed. At the second, the coordinator consultation felt strongly sales-oriented, the cost was far beyond my budget, and the doctor’s consultation was short and perfunctory, so I passed without regret. The last place was Modern Aesthetics, with Dr. Kang In-ho. As soon as we consulted, he examined the natural framework of my bridge and clearly said there was absolutely no need for an implant. He suggested reducing the width of the bridge with lateral osteotomy and simply refining the line, without an implant. For the tip, he proposed using ear cartilage and septal cartilage to create definition, but not raising it indiscriminately—he said we should proceed gently according to my facial proportions. That’s why I chose to have surgery there. In my preoperative photos, my bridge was not low, but there was a slight hump, and above all, the tip drooped downward and spread bluntly, which reduced the three-dimensional definition. The postoperative photos are from two weeks later. There is still a little residual swelling and bruising, but the difference is clear. Even without an implant, smoothing the hump and firmly refining the tip created a really clean line from the bridge to the tip. In particular, the blunt tip that had always stressed me has come alive, and the lines look much prettier from both the front and side. I worried a lot that recovery might be slow because I’m not young, and I was also concerned about managing the swelling, but seeing the progress, I feel those worries were unnecessary lol. I’m really glad I carefully researched clinics according to my own convictions. It’s only been two weeks, so the residual swelling still needs to settle, but I’m very excited to see how much more natural it will look once the swelling is completely gone after one or two months~~
