It has already been six months since I underwent double-jaw surgery and two facial-contouring procedures, mandibular angle reduction and genioplasty, on February 24! Before surgery, the part that concerned me most was my protruding jaw, which stuck forward like a class III jaw. Because my jaw stood out so much, I often felt that the proportions and balance of my entire face were off, and I naturally started avoiding taking photos. Since double-jaw surgery is such a major operation, I was extremely worried and afraid that something might go wrong during the process, even after deciding to proceed.
Now, six months after surgery, there is still a little residual swelling, but my face has become considerably smaller overall, and as the jaw that had projected forward moved back, my facial shape clearly changed. My face shape used to be one of my biggest complexes, but these days the change feels so dramatic that even when I look at old photos, I wonder if I really used to look like that. I’m enjoying each day while feeling satisfied with my current appearance!!
My parents were the ones who worried most about the double-jaw surgery, but after I actually had it done, they seem to be the people who are happiest and most satisfied for me. These days, my parents say it looks as if the face I had when I was young has come back, and seeing them feel that way makes me proud and happy for no particular reason haha. Of course my parents are satisfied too, but naturally I think I’m the most satisfied because I’m the one who actually underwent the surgery!! Personally, I’m extremely satisfied with the double-jaw surgery haha.
However, since it takes time to adapt to and adjust to the new occlusion after surgery, my bite is not yet perfectly aligned, so eating is still slightly uncomfortable. Even so, now that about six months have passed, the range of foods I can eat has expanded considerably; apart from hard foods such as cubed radish kimchi and chewy foods, I can eat most rice dishes, chicken, and so on, so I feel that my quality of life has improved haha.
I think many people are still scared and deliberating over whether to have double-jaw surgery. I also had many worries and was very conflicted before surgery, so I hope that, while you are still a year younger and more beautiful, you will receive a thorough consultation with Dr. Lee Seok-jae and the consultation manager at YI Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and make a careful decision!!!! If you have been deliberating because of a complex you have, I think getting a consultation is also a good option. I’m living very happily and with complete satisfaction, without regretting my decision to have the surgery 😀😊😊
