I had my first surgery, but because of the foreign-body sensation, tenderness, anxiety, guilt, and so on, I had the silicone removed first after just two weeks. It has now been a month, and I’m waiting out the six months, but it is honestly unbearably hard... Because of the remaining septal extension, I have this hellish foreign-body sensation every day, and as long as that is still in there, I’ll never be able to do a pig-nose, I can’t rub my nose hard while washing my face, I can’t pick my nose whenever I want, I can’t bury my face in a pillow, and I keep wondering whether I’ll still be able to do things like water sports or skiing as casually as before. Just thinking about living 24 hours a day while carefully protecting this heavy, rigid nose makes me feel like I really have developed a mental illness. Especially since my original nose was short and showed the nostrils, I keep worrying that if I remove this for nothing, it might end up being even more upturned than before... The change in my face is also so drastic, and I keep wondering why I never realized sooner that a small, slightly nostril-showing, round nose suits my face. I had already planned to wait six months after surgery and then go on a working holiday, but if I wait out the six months and then remove it because of this nose, my working-holiday plan will be ruined too. Besides, I’ve heard it’s not easy to get an appointment at a removal clinic, and since I live in the provinces, just going to Seoul to shop around and then getting the removal done is another huge source of stress and worry. I’m staying home and not going out, I’ve lost all confidence, I’m losing money, I can’t focus on studying, and I don’t want to do anything anymore. I feel like I’m going crazy. I’m seriously thinking about psychiatric counseling, but would counseling or psychiatric medication actually help with something like this..?
