I had only been thinking about rhinoplasty, but open surgery seemed so scary that I wanted a closed procedure! During my consultation, though, I was told the nose shape I wanted would be a little difficult with a jelly implant, so I chose an open procedure while I was at it. I hesitated a little, but I had always had some insecurity about my nose, so I don’t think I deliberated much! But I became a little worried when I heard it would involve general anesthesia rather than sedation. They said general anesthesia is safer for rhinoplasty, and I felt reassured after hearing that an anesthesiology director is on-site, so I scheduled the surgery. On the day, I saw the director and entered the operating room; it was more spacious and pleasant than I expected. I lay on the operating table and exchanged a few words with the nurse, then I remember nothing. When I woke up, I went to the recovery room and lay down for a while. My husband came to pick me up, and I got home safely! Right after surgery, I felt nothing except being a little groggy because the anesthesia had not fully worn off. A few hours later, nasal discharge and slight nosebleeds started, and as the cotton packing became wet, I could not breathe well. From then on, it was extremely difficult. Fortunately, the cotton inside my nose was removed the next day, but my nose remained blocked even after removal, so I had to breathe only through my mouth for about a week. Even after a week, it was occasionally blocked. My splint was removed on day seven! Although I am someone who swells easily, the swelling and bruising recovered faster than expected in about a week :) There is still some residual swelling, but I am waiting for it to gradually go down!
