During the consultation, the staff member examined every detail carefully and was kind, but after I paid the surgery fee... it felt like they became rather careless... When I entered surgery, the smell of cigarettes in the operating room was extremely strong, and the window was open, so there was noise from cars outside. (Operating-room hygiene is important, so I felt uneasy about whether surgery could be done with a window open.) The operating-room nurses were very unfriendly... Then Dr. Baek came in and placed a hand on my face, and there was a very strong cigarette smell from their hand... It was serious (I wondered whether they had not washed their hands...) I fell asleep overwhelmed by the cigarette smell, and when I woke up, I was in the recovery room. The doctor came and said the surgery had gone well, and the coordinator came and gave me a compression band and an ice pack. But the compression band was so poorly made that it looked as though the hospital had rushed it together (it seemed to have been roughly fastened with binder clips). I thought it would break, so I asked for another one, but they said no, saying each patient could only receive one. (I paid in the ten-million-won range for surgery, yet they would not give me one additional compression band... that did not sit well with me.) The coordinator was really terrible... I contacted them because I had severe pain that evening after surgery (they had said to contact them anytime if anything happened), but they were drunk, muttered something to themselves, and hung up. (I was really dumbfounded then.) I did not want to contact them afterward because it upset me... It has now been over five years since surgery, but my sensation still has not fully returned. Eating is extremely uncomfortable. (The coordinator clearly said it would return 100 percent.) It feels wasteful to spend money on revision surgery, and there is no guarantee that revision would restore sensation. I am just living with it. For this result after paying that much... I regret a hundred, a thousand times not going to another hospital instead.
