The photos were all taken as basic shots, and I had <implant-free surgery raising only the nasal tip with septal cartilage, plus alar reduction and cartilage tying>!̄̈
Original nose: I had a slight hump, and because I did a piggy nose a lot when I was young, only the nasal tip was lifted, so there was some unevenness on the nasal dorsum. Also, every hospital I went to for consultations always said my nasal skin was thick.
Hospital consultations: At a few hospitals I went to for consultations, they said that if I raised my nose high, my forehead would look relatively flat by comparison, but my forehead is more than flat; it’s sunken inward in the middle. It was just always like that. A few places recommended forehead procedures, but I wasn’t thinking about that, so I let it go in one ear and out the other. They said if I shaved the hump and didn’t put in an implant, the nasal bridge could get a bit lower and look spread out, and asked if I’d be okay with that, so I said I’d just leave it unshaved and do implant-free surgery (because I’m scared of contracture). Also, they said my nasal tip was already high, so they couldn’t raise my nose much; otherwise it would bend upward.
Week 1: Everything was swollen overall, so the nasal bridge line looked smooth. I had already been told that irregularities could appear as the swelling went down. Removing the stitches from the alar area and open incision didn’t hurt at all.
Week 2: While recovering, I didn’t do warm/cold compresses or walks at all, so the bruising lasted seriously so longㅠ̑̈ I didn’t do it because I was lazy, so I have no regrets. Except for the day of surgery, I didn’t really have much foreign-body sensation. No pain at all❌ At this time, my nose was blocked, so when I picked my nose with a cotton swab, I saw something white, but that wasn’t cartilage sticking out; it was a condensed clump of nasal mucus^^… Mine was honestly so huge that I was convinced, “That’s bone,” but when I took it out later, something the size of one finger segment came out. If it’s deep inside, don’t force it out; take it out slowly when it has come out a bit. Also, when removing nasal mucus, you might be surprised because a thread comes out, but the blue thread is dissolvable suture. It’s just leftover suture material that naturally falls off over time, so don’t be startled.
Week 3: As you can see in the photos, once the swelling in the nasal bridge went down, the unshaved hump became visible. Since I had been told about this beforehand, I’m not particularly dissatisfied. Other people’s bruising goes away in 2 weeks, but I still have bruisingㄷㄷ Also, people talk a lot about scars after alar reduction, but honestly the scar didn’t bother me at all. I don’t know if my nasal tip swelling hasn’t gone down as much because I never walk and keep eating only spicy and oily foods, but there isn’t a big change in my nose. I knew implant-free surgery can have less change, but in reality the change is so small that my nose still looks too big.. I’m not sure if this is the best it can be. I want to hear everyone’s opinions on this!̄̈!̄̈ If all the swelling is gone, I’m also considering revision surgery with silicone later, but I’m worried that if I make the nose higher from here, my forehead is sunken but only my nose will stick out too muchㅠ Aside from not being fully satisfied aesthetically, functionally and pain-wise there’s absolutely nothing; I can forget that I even had plastic surgery!̄̈ It’s not at the level of needing hump osteotomy, but I sometimes see people in this community who also don’t want to shave it, so this will help a lot with knowing how the nasal bridge line might turn out:)
