I didn’t go around to large hospitals to begin with and mostly went to private clinics, but at both places they discouraged me, saying that if I remove it, I’ll lose more than I gain. There are psychological reasons too, but honestly the biggest reasons are that my columella is crooked and the cartilage is showing through. Once cartilage starts showing through, it can progress, and I was worried the columella would keep bending too, so it felt like living with a ticking time bomb, which is why I wanted removal. I’ve had up to a third surgery, and now I’m trying to get removal, but they said that if I’ve had surgery multiple times, there may be damage to the alar cartilage, and that the show-through isn’t severe either, while discouraging removal.
