I had LASIK right after taking the college entrance exam in high school, and I'm currently in my 8th year. As for side effects, I developed a bit of glare.. My dry eyes aren't severe, but I do have a little. Thankfully, my vision is still good..! I think it's coming out around 0.8 to 1.0. But these days I look at the computer and my phone all day.. so I'm worried because my eyes feel tired haha I'm managing it with supplements, blue-light-blocking glasses, and regular checkups. Overall I'm satisfied, but I think it would have been okay to do it a little later. I do feel some regret that I should have worn contacts a bit more.
