First off, I had my first surgery about 12 years ago, and if I go through with it this time, it’ll be my second surgery. The hump was shaved down, the bone was osteotomized, silicone was used for the bridge, and septal cartilage was used for the tip. But yesterday, as I started going around for my first nose revision consultations, I learned a lot of things I didn’t know The bridge silicone had rotated sideways, making the nose look crooked (they said my actual nasal bone itself isn’t crooked) My skin is thin, so the tip cartilage? is visible (I didn’t even know my skin was thin, and I didn’t know the cartilage was showing either) But apparently the nose skin itself stretches well. The septum has collapsed, so reconstruction is needed, and there is a perforation on the back side of the nose, so they said they’d have to be careful during surgery. And they also said my nostrils are a little like a yak’s nose! Wow I don’t know if I’m just dull or have a bad eye for detail, but there were so many things I didn’t know 1. Finish (ㅂㄱㅇ) First, based on the premium reputation here, the rating was 4.6, they handle aftercare well, are kind, and all the reviews were good. The one thing that bothered me was that there were reviews with the same content under different IDs. This clinic also has a YouTube channel, so I watched all the nose-related videos before going. The consultation was long, about an hour. They told me there was a perforation and said they’d need to reconstruct the septum with autologous costal cartilage. They said it would be under general anesthesia and that they have a dedicated anesthesiologist-director. Surgery time was about four hours? They showed me the expected post-op result by editing photos. There’s already about 2.5 mm of silicone in there, but it’s tilted, so they said they’d use a thinner silicone, lower the starting point of the bridge, and that they probably couldn’t raise the tip as much as I wanted. The nose I want doesn’t match my face, I want the bridge much much lower and the tip much much higher, so they even showed me what it would look like if they removed the silicone entirely to match it as much as possible. They also took an X-ray to see if autologous costal cartilage could be used, and said the cartilage wasn’t calcified and my bones are very thick, sturdier than most men’s, which is good They said it might be the thickest among women I hadn’t even brought up the nostrils, but they said to lower them first, and they said they’d lower them with ear cartilage, without specifically mentioning ear cartilage at that point, just said they would pull them down. They also said to slightly round and lower the columella. They seemed to think the existing scar under the nose was in a bad location and said they’d make a new incision somewhere else. Price was 990, or 800 if I provide photos 2. Tiara (ㅊㅎㅅ) Premium reputation rating 4.2, and since there were only a few reviews there weren’t any particularly bad ones. This clinic only does noses, not eyes, and said they only do noses and fat grafting. They said to lift the drooped columella and lower the nostrils with ear cartilage, and that there is 4 mm of silicone in there, which they would replace with 2 mm silicone. They also said the silicone had rotated sideways because there’s a bump on my nasal bone that it was catching on, and they would smooth that down a bit. They said the hump might not have been shaved down enough? This was the only place that didn’t mention the perforation at the back of the nose. Price was 880 Send 9 photos and write 5 reviews, then 770 If you book today, 680 If you decide within this month, 700 But the consultation with the director here was only ten minutes and felt a bit rushed, so I didn’t like it much. They charged 10,000 won for the consultation even though it was under ten minutes. Oh, and they do both donated rib and autologous rib here, but the manager seemed to prefer donated rib. This was the only lobby with quite a few customers? There were about three groups. While waiting, I saw a woman leaving after nose surgery and then a Japanese woman going in for nose surgery next. Maybe they were busy with surgeries, so they rushed my consultation. There were other consults before and after mine too. They consulted at least three people between surgeries. 3. Ppuli (one-doctor clinic) Premium rating 4.6, said to be a clinic in its 4th year, but when I asked the coordinator they said it was actually in its 6th year because they had moved once. There weren’t many premium reviews, maybe four, but they were all good. They said they would use custom-made silicone and lower the bridge starting point all the way. They said this was the first time they’d recommend wide silicone, 10.5 mm. For lowering the nostrils, they said they’d do lowering plus ear cartilage plus something like a membrane from the ear as well. They said the tip may have gradually risen because it was tied too tightly during the first surgery, which may have made it into a yak nose. This was the first place that mentioned the possibility of tip visibility. They said they would use autologous costal cartilage and then add ear cartilage and rib fascia on top. They said there would be no change to the columella or nasolabial angle. AS 3 years Sedation anesthesia 3 to 3.5 hours Cost was 980 + 80 for custom silicone If I allow partial photo use, total 780 This one also felt like about an hour-long consultation. 4. Weverse (ㅅㅅㅈ) Premium rating 3.7, and there were many reviews about a crooked nose The director is blunt, has no aesthetic sense, and there are quite a few bad reviews saying the proportions don’t suit the face. Still, one person’s nose done here was so my style that I went for a consultation. They said to lower the bridge starting point and change the angle. I suggested using a wide silicone. For lowering the nostrils, they said nostril reduction plus ear cartilage. For columella reconstruction, septum reconstruction, crooked nose correction, and fixing nostril asymmetry, when I brought up the scar under the nose, they first said to incise the existing one, but after looking at it a few more times they said to make a new one. When I asked whether adding ear cartilage while lowering the nostrils would make the nose look too bulky, they said the chance of my nose becoming a bulbous nose was very low, and because of concerns about tip visibility they would add ear cartilage plus ear dermis so it wouldn’t become too pointy. AS 1 year I wanted the nose of Hwamin, but they said her face is rather flat so that nose suits her, whereas my face is more convex so Shin Se-kyung’s nose would actually suit me better. They said they couldn’t lower the bridge as much as Hwamin’s. They printed out a side-view photo of me and drew on it. But I’m thinking of making time next week for one more consultation somewhere else.. Since this was a revision surgery and my last surgery, I need to be careful,,
