Today I had my stitches removed, the splint came off, and I saw the professor.
My nose had looked very lifted, but once the splint and tape came off, it settled down Thank goodness
For nose stitch removal, it wasn’t a nurse but another doctor? A resident? who did it.
They praised me, saying I had clearly taken very good care of it because all the scabs had already come off and it looked so clean.
They wore something like a flashlight on their head and gently removed the stitches, so it didn’t hurt much.
At another clinic, a nursing assistant or something removed the stitches, but they just ripped them out so roughly that I ended up crying nonstop, and only then did the director come and remove the stitches......
The suturing was all sloppy too...
At that time, I ended up with a huge scar under my nose that hadn’t been there before...
This time, the professor said the scar under my nose was too severe, cut out the scar tissue, and stitched it with exactly 10 stitches.
The sutures were really neat.
The professor said the surgery turned out so well that there wasn’t anything more to wish for here, and that as the swelling goes down, my nose will settle a bit lower than it is now.
Compared with the surgery I had at that other clinic:
[other clinic] - Removed the septum and rearranged the cartilage, then tied up the tip of the nose - The nose became higher, the nostrils became uneven, the tip cartilage became visible, and the nose bent badly - A scar disaster, and as the nose bent badly, new postnasal drip, sinusitis, and rhinitis/nasal congestion symptoms appeared - The severely bent left side of the nose was often blocked, and my nose was always running - It wasn’t pinched, but it looked severely narrowed together - The middle of the bridge was sunken in, probably because the tip was lifted too much - The nostrils became like a straight 11 shape.
[B.L.M.] - When they opened the nose, only about 4 mm of the septum supporting the nose was left, and it had been detached from a different place instead of the original harvesting site. There was a high chance of saddle nose, but fortunately the original framework of my nose wasn’t bad, so it was still being supported.
- They did not build a new support, and they did not tie it up. (It seems they only brought it together using the alar cartilages.)
- The tip height was adjusted to match the existing bridge.
- During consultation, they said they would use the periosteum and ear cartilage, but inside the nose they did everything with septal cartilage. They said my skin is thin, but since it doesn’t seem like it will show through, they didn’t use the periosteum either.
- As the nose became straighter, the nasal congestion, runny nose, and postnasal drip improved. I had both cosmetic surgery and septal deviation surgery. They said my nose was completely bent in an S shape
- The nostrils returned to a round shape

Right now the swelling is still very severe, so I look like an alien fish, but I don’t feel like my nostrils are showing too much.
They only show about as much as other people’s do.
I still need to keep watching it, but as the swelling goes down, I really hope there won’t be any saddle nose or visible cartilage...
My nose is high now too, but I think that’s because my original bridge was high. It doesn’t feel insanely high.
The shape is round and natural from the front, and straight and defined from the side. Dr. Jin’s style.
As for the cost, because I also had the deviation surgery, the total was about 600? Maybe a little over 600. (Including hospitalization fees)
If you don’t have the deviation surgery, it should come out to around 530 to 550.
A university hospital is different in that they give you four kinds of cleansing/irrigation medicine for inside the nose, two kinds of ointment,
and even oral medicine like antibiotics, fever medicine, and runny-nose medicine very carefully.
It seems like inflammation wouldn’t be able to develop at all.
