How does it look?? It’s probably a bit asymmetrical because of the swelling, right..? Surgery week 1 diary Day of surgery - The day before, I met a friend, had dinner, and only drank water until bedtime. After waking up, I didn’t drink anything at all (not even water X). When I made the appointment, I had the general anesthesia tests, but I hadn’t done only the ECG, so I went to the hospital at 12 p.m. and got the test done. There was a lot of time left until surgery, but since I’m from another area, there wasn’t really anywhere suitable to go, so I rested and waited in the recovery room until surgery. Around 2:30 p.m., I met the director, talked about the surgery, and went into the operating room at 3. I lay down, they secured my arms and legs and gave me an injection, saying the vein pain would be severe, and it really felt like the medicine was going straight into my arm, so it hurt, and after that I think I fell asleep. The surgery seemed to end around 6? 6:30. Around 7:30, my mind cleared up, so I called my mom and looked at my face with the camera, and it was wrapped all over with tape. And because of the autologous rib cartilage, I was wearing an abdominal binder. After finishing the IV, I was discharged a little after 8. Maybe because of aftereffects from anesthesia, I was dizzy and kept feeling like throwing up (like water). Still, I thought I had to eat something to take medicine, so I went to a convenience store and bought porridge, but I just didn’t want to eat, couldn’t even hold the spoon well, and kept feeling nauseous, so I ate about 1/4, threw the rest away, and returned to the accommodation. (I live in another region, so I booked a place near the hospital.) As soon as I arrived at the accommodation, I just roughly washed my hands and feet, changed clothes, put two pillows down, and slept. (My nose was blocked, so I could only breathe through my mouth, and my throat got completely dry, so I woke up every 2 hours. Every time I woke up I drank water, but because of the autologous rib pain, even going from lying down to sitting took a long time and hurt.) Day 1 - I woke up in the morning and went to the hospital. I met the director at 10, talked, removed some of the many tapes, and had the nasal packing removed. Once the packing was removed, I could breathe through my nose, so it was heaven (but only for a moment..). There was less swelling than I expected and no bruising (both the director and the consultant said the swelling didn’t look like someone who had surgery yesterday). They said I could wear the abdominal binder if the autologous rib area hurt, and if it got better, I didn’t have to. As soon as treatment ended, I took the KTX back home. No nose pain, only the autologous rib pain was still the same. As soon as I got home, I ran the humidifier at full power and just lay down with two pillows or sat around. It was hard to eat because my mouth wouldn’t open well. When sleeping, my mouth still got dry, so I woke up every two to three hours to drink water (I literally slept with bottled water by the bed). Day 2 - The area around my nose (cheek area) was swollen tight. Yesterday really wasn’t swollen. But there was no bruising. The autologous rib pain was still there, but I could walk, so I went outside and walked around (wearing a mask and hat). My mouth still didn’t open well, so it was hard to eat anything. Even sucking through a straw when drinking was a bit uncomfortable and pulled, so I just drank normally. Day 3 - Autologous rib pain still the same (hard to get up after lying down, can’t sneeze, cough, or laugh). Eating was still uncomfortable too. Did 30-40 minute walks in the morning and at night, and nasal congestion was still there (started sleeping with a mask on). Days 4, 5, 6 - The swelling around my nose started gradually disappearing. Still no bruising. Autologous rib pain started getting a little better. I had nasal congestion, but I didn’t wake up while sleeping (maybe thanks to the mask). Did 30-40 minute walks in the morning and at night. Day 7 - The swelling around my nose went down a lot. Finally the day to remove the splint and stitches. In the morning, I hurriedly took the KTX up to Seoul and arrived at the hospital at 12:30. They removed the stitches and splint, and my nose opened right up. Finally started breathing through my nose (but maybe I’d gotten used to breathing through my mouth, because I was unconsciously breathing through my mouth..). The tight pulling in my nose is still there. The side where the stitches were removed hadn’t fully healed yet, so during treatment they applied medical glue. Opening my mouth has gotten better compared with the beginning, but it still doesn’t work well. The sebum and blackheads on my nose are legendary The autologous rib pain is only there when I use force (I tried to run because of the crosswalk signal, but immediately felt that pain st, so I quickly gave up and crossed at the next signal). I met a friend in Seoul, ate, and went to a cafe, and eating has definitely gotten easier, but it’s still uncomfortable. Using a straw is still a bit uncomfortable too. Took the night train back home. It’s definitely comfortable sleeping while breathing through my nose. Still, I keep the humidifier running full power. I’m sleeping with two pillows. But maybe because of rhinitis, only one side of my nose gets blocked sometimes.
