Because of my rabbit-like front teeth, I had an orthodontic consultation at a dental clinic near Gangnam Station last January and started right away. I paid 4 million won for Clippy-C orthodontics, including all monthly fees and retainer costs. During the consultation, they showed me a higher price list and said this and that, but I negotiated it down as much as I could. Though I ended up paying all the discounted money back for cavity treatment...
My jaw is slightly asymmetrical, so I was also hoping for correction of the jaw asymmetry, but according to the X-ray results, it wasn’t a dental problem; it was my original bone structure, so they said orthodontic treatment can’t fix that;;
The downside is that only during the first consultation did the dental clinic kindly hold me for over 1-2 hours and explain everything, while every time I go for monthly treatment, it’s almost impossible to talk directly with the director beyond “hello.” But I could communicate any discomfort through an intermediary, and they either fixed things right away or noticed issues first and resolved them, so I didn’t have any major complaints. I had been planning to mention during monthly treatment that my lower gum had started receding, but they noticed on their own, performed interproximal reduction, and filled the gap.
Honestly, I didn’t have severe malocclusion or anything, so I didn’t think my face would change dramatically... but even with braces on, my teeth became even enough for me to feel satisfied... There is the downside that my cheek fat has really disappeared, but overall I’m very satisfied.
The process was somewhat painful, and around months 3-4 I wondered why I had even done this, but once I got used to it, I slowly started eating foods they told me not to eat, and I adapted to the pain too, so it became bearable.
They said it would take at least a year and a half, but they told me my orthodontic treatment will finish next month, so I’m already excited. Once it’s done, I’ll upload before-and-after photos too:)
I made the decision after getting consultations at all the well-known dental clinics around Gangnam, and I think I made a good choice.
