I started in my first year of middle school and got my braces removed in my third year of high school. Since I had orthodontic treatment for longer than I expected, there were many inconveniences, but cosmetically, my teeth look straight when I smile, so it gives a neat impression. I don’t know if it’s because I had orthodontic treatment during my growth period, or because I had habits of sitting at a desk and often resting my chin on my hand, but my cheekbones became prominent. When I look at old photos, my face was oval-shaped with no visible cheekbones at all, but during orthodontic treatment and after it ended, only my cheekbones gradually became more prominent, making the overall facial contour look peanut-shaped. So I recommend not doing it during the growth period. Personally, I recommend doing it after the college entrance exam in the third year of high school.
