Two-Month Review

This is my review at exactly day 55. I also wrote one on day 7, so if you check that, you’ll know, but I had 3 mm silicone, septal extension, hump reduction, and osteotomy. I ended up having the implants removed because of a crooked nasal tip and visible nasal tip cartilage. My operated nose had been designed as a straight nose, so it made me look older, made my nose look long, and overall it just wasn’t a very pretty nose. So I had the silicone removed, and while removing the septal extension, I had revision nasal tip surgery using the septal cartilage again as a support strut. The doctor also said that since it is my own cartilage, it wouldn’t be bad to keep it rather than just throw the septal cartilage away, and that it might be needed later if I ever have another nose surgery. I didn’t like how using septal cartilage makes the nasal tip firm and hard, but I was also very afraid of the nasal tip becoming upturned, and I couldn’t ignore the nasal tip shape either, so I ended up using the support strut. The surgery was open rhinoplasty. I think the surgery took about two hours. Since the septal support strut was used in the original septal area, where it had been harvested, the doctor said that later I would be able to slightly make a pig nose too. (This is what the doctor told me after touching my nose when I went for my one-month follow-up.) Of course, it must be very different from a nasal tip with nothing in it, but I’m just thinking of it as my own cartilage and I’m satisfied enough. Thankfully, so far this septal support strut hasn’t caused any problems. It’s still only the two-month mark, so I do still have tightness in my nose. It tightens and then gets better, back and forth. Around day 23, the contraction phase really came, so from the front my nostrils were all visible, it ached, my philtrum felt tight, and my columella curled inward... I was extremely anxious, wondering what I would do if it stayed like that, but as each day passed, it loosened up a lot. As expected, time is the answer. I spent a lot of money to have it removed, but so far exactly one person has noticed. Hahaha When the contraction phase was severe, an older coworker looked at my side profile and said, “Your nose somehow got smaller.” That was exactly what she said. Even my family and close friends don’t know. I also haven’t told them because I’m curious how long they won’t notice. I guess everything really is self-satisfaction. Whether I get nose surgery or have it removed, I guess I’m the only one who pays so much attention to my nose.. As I was organizing the photos, I think the shape is almost the same. It does look a bit different depending on the angle or lighting, but I don’t think it’s very different from day 7. I was worried the nasal bridge might be bumpy after shaving down the hump, but it’s okay. Without the silicone, it’s just sunken in, I guess..
