Hey everyone, I’m in my 5th year with 10 laminate veneers, so I’m posting a review. (These are my own photos, with good resolution.)
Chipping - none at all. Color - it stayed the same as on the day of treatment, so I really like the color. Would I do it again? - No need to. They look so good now that there’s really nothing wrong, and I think I’ll use them for life. Price - not cheap. I hate cheap things I suffered too much For me, what mattered first wasn’t the price but choosing a doctor my friends recommended, someone who makes them natural yet luxurious and pretty, and who has good long-term stability because of my job, where sudden problems after treatment would not be acceptable.
Because I work in a field where I get photographed a lot, I didn’t want to just do it cheaply and casually, so I really did a lot of legwork and asked around friends, and got it done at a place that’s genuinely good. The conclusion is that the first procedure is unbelievably important.
If the first one goes well, you really don’t have to worry about it at all, and it feels stronger than my own teeth. You smile a lot, good things happen, and it’s the treatment with the highest satisfaction.
But honestly, laminates really need to be done at a place that is genuinely excellent.
In other countries, resident doctors do them, so laminate cosmetic work starts at around 2 to 3 million won per tooth, and even then there are many cases people are not satisfied with.
Even in Seoul, if you look carefully, there are sometimes doctors who are true laminate masters. Expensive does not automatically mean better, but cheap always has a reason. Depending on the stability of the laminate material, there are imported materials that can easily last over 20 years, and I got mine with this material.
Most of the low-cost ads are the kind that chip very easily, everyone.
And the color and translucency are really different too. Mine was done very thinly, translucently, and beautifully with a luxurious feel, while low-cost materials are something you can think of like the xylitol that people already know.
Everyone, with laminates, the initial price is not what matters. Friends of mine who were trainees and celebrity friends went through a lot.
Based on my experience, here are some tips when considering the procedure:
1. A place that clearly discloses what material you will choose 2. A place where the cost is not absurdly cheap 3. The bonding process is really important. A place where the head doctor personally performs every procedure according to proper standards, without delegating to hygienists. If the bonding is done properly, it becomes almost like my own teeth. 4. A place celebrities go to - this is the most important. And you have to tell whether they are paying out of pocket or being sponsored. The good places all use 100% self-paid treatment. The good places use really excellent materials, so the material cost is extremely high. But unless you have acquaintances, well-run clinics usually do not advertise openly because of privacy, so it can be hard to know unless you know celebrities. Why is this important? Because your teeth are incredibly important for your job. I filtered through many places and went to a place that was truly good. 5. A place with good reviews on Naver/Google (number doesn’t matter) 6. A place with thorough aftercare after the procedure **This is really important. I had it done at a place in Apgujeong where the chief doctor works solo, and they make sure to do laminate checkups every 6 months. That’s important too. Laminate is a semi-permanent treatment if managed well, so since you invested in it, don’t just leave it alone; good aftercare makes it even better. But most laminate clinics only do the procedure and don’t really take care of follow-up because it’s not profitable. The best thing is that laminates should be scaled at a clinic specializing in laminates. Otherwise, if hygienists are doing it for the first time, everything gets broken and it’s a mess This clinic has had laminate treatment for a very long time, so the hygienists specialize in laminate scaling too, and the doctor also carefully checks things regularly and does repairs whenever needed. If a cavity develops in a laminate-treated tooth, most places send you elsewhere and it becomes a whole ordeal, but here they even take care of cavity treatment, so they handle all the dental care and I can live without worrying about my teeth.
Even if you don’t go to the exact place I did, think carefully and choose well. The first procedure has to go well, and any repeat procedure needs even more caution, so study up and decide. Price really should come last, everyone.
