Before-before-before after-after-after hello I had a severe protruding lower jaw, and when I closed my mouth, a gap was visible, so it was extremely stressful. After deciding to have surgery, I went to 2 hospitals for consultations and 5 dental clinics, and they all said I was a double jaw surgery case, so I gathered courage and started pre-surgical orthodontics.. After finishing 1 year and 6 months of pre-surgical orthodontics, I started looking for a hospital. Since I had orthodontics done at a dental clinic, I thought surgery too, especially double jaw surgery, should probably be done by oral and maxillofacial surgery, so I chose Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. I scheduled the surgery, then went to internal medicine for various tests (blood test, chest X-ray, etc.), and since the results had no particular problems, I proceeded with surgery right away! So in the end, I had double jaw surgery, square jaw surgery, and chin surgery!
Day 1 after surgery
Lastly, the director explained the surgical method and the amount of jaw movement, etc., checked whether the wafer appliance fit well, and then I went into surgery.. I don’t even remember being told I would be anesthetized. I only remember lying down and having my body fixed so I couldn’t move, up to that point haha. Usually they say, “We’re going to start anesthesia~ count to 10,” but I really don’t remember anything, and when I closed and opened my eyes, the surgery was already over. On the first day, because I had nasal intubation, I could breathe well.. Because of the anesthesia, I just passed the time in a dazed state.
Day 2
Now my nose was blocked, phlegm came up, and breathing became uncomfortable..! I had it done without intermaxillary fixation, so I could breathe through my mouth, but it was still uncomfortable and hard The nurse said my condition was very good, so other people must be, seriously ㄷㄷ… On this day, they removed what was in my nose, and also removed the blood drain and urinary catheter. haha
Day 3
My face swelled up. You think you’re the type who doesn’t swell? You tolerate surgery well? None of that matters haha I also didn’t know I would swell this much haha. Seeing swelling like this, I do think double jaw surgery is major surgery. But what was really satisfying was seeing the malocclusion disappear right after surgery, so mentally I thought, let’s just get through this! haha On this day, I received medication, listened to the precautions, and was discharged. For me, I think it was okay not to have a guardian during hospitalization, but it seemed better to have a guardian on the way home!
Day 4-Day 5
On day 4, I sprayed Otrivin for the first time, and it worked well for me haha. Now my nose is getting clearer day by day! My face is still swelling more and more I think it will last a week.. Still, the effect is good, so endure it! endure it,, that was my thought haha From this point on, since I could breathe a little, I got so hungry I’m only eating New Care, ion drinks, and Bonjuk blended to 100, and it’s so sad I used to live for the joy of eating haha Still, let’s lose weight! that mindset haha
Weeks 1-2
I had the stitches removed and could open my mouth well, so I was almost back to daily life! I think once you get through the first week, it really gets okay!! I can breathe well, and my runny nose and phlegm are gone now! The swelling is still very full, so it’s embarrassing to go around, but the swelling is going down differently day by day! For food, I’m now eating regular porridge, seaweed soup, and soft bread too! The hospital took careful care of me until the stitches were removed, and the manager also responded so kindly and worried with me about the things I was anxious about, so I was very grateful
