After-after-after before-before-before As someone with facial asymmetry + malocclusion + severe stress about my appearance, I’ll tell my story about getting double-jaw surgery. Since I was young, issues with my jaw were noticeable, my malocclusion was severe, and my bite didn’t fit properly. And I was a case that really suffered a lot from temporomandibular joint pain, so double-jaw surgery was definitely necessary
When I went for a one-week follow-up after facial contouring double-jaw surgery and to get disinfected, opening my mouth.. hurt so much,,, I learned how to put on the rubber bands, and I remember it being harder than I expected lolol Still, because I could really feel my face changing after double-jaw surgery, I was able to get through the difficult parts!
Around 2 months, a lot of the major swelling had gone down, so I could gradually see my facial contour line being refined prettily. As for food, I ate everything well except hard foods, and as time passed, I felt really excited wondering how it would change!
At 3/4 months, I met friends for the first time in a while and drank alcohol too, and I ate everything without being picky haha When acquaintances I hadn’t seen in a while all said I had gotten prettier, and friends who didn’t know I had double-jaw surgery said I had somehow gotten prettier, I felt pretty proud!! I also worked hard on jaw exercises. (The effect of mouth-opening exercises is really important)
I feel reassured because I can see my facial line continuing to be refined, and I keep thinking… I hope the minor swelling goes away soon too lolol
Currently 6 months!! Now it seems like the major swelling and minor swelling in my face are gone, and compared with before, I like my jawline! It seems like my bite is also being aligned well through orthodontic treatment, so chewing is definitely more comfortable now >0< Before double-jaw surgery, I barely took selfies and only avoided them, but now I’ve learned the fun(?) of taking selfies, and I’ve become somewhat confident in front of the camera haha
