Nose Surgery Reviews

After developing complications from rhinoplasty, I had my third revision at another hospital

I have now undergone my third revision rhinoplasty. I never dreamed I would end up on the operating table three times. Both surgeries previously performed at other hospitals had poor results, causing tremendous emotional distress. Those who have experienced it will know, but I think only someone who has personally suffered can understand the mental anguish caused by complications after revision rhinoplasty. Meeting people, let alone going out, was extremely stressful..... Looking at the preoperative photos, you will immediately understand: after the first and second surgeries, the most painful issue was that my nasal bridge looked blunt, round, and spread out. In addition, the transition from the bridge to the tip was not smooth; there was a severe step-off that looked sunken, so the profile line was very strange.. I wanted a refined look, but ended up with an awkward, overly upturned ski-slope nose that I never wanted, completely throwing off the balance of my face. After experiencing these complications, I was honestly afraid to have another procedure .... So when deciding on this third surgery, I resolved to take a completely different approach from the previous hospitals. Excluding the places where I had my first and second surgeries, I searched extensively and visited hospitals near Gangnam Station that were highly renowned for revision rhinoplasty and had experienced surgeons. After consulting at a hospital specializing in revision rhinoplasty, I could clearly see that even the system was different. During the consultation, Dr. Han Dae-hee clearly identified why my previous surgeries had been bound to fail. He carefully explained structurally how to refine the spread-out bridge and how donated costal cartilage could create a smooth transition over the severe step-off, which gave me tremendous confidence. I then underwent my third surgery at Edition Plastic Surgery using donated costal cartilage. As you can see in the photos, this time the line turned out exactly as I wanted... At first there was swelling around the glabella, but as time passed the residual swelling naturally subsided and the frontal and profile lines became clearly defined. Most importantly, the spread of the bridge and the step-off caused by the previous complications were smoothed out. I feel that a subtle, stable straight-natural line that falls naturally from the bridge to the tip has settled in. People around me say this surgery was the best ever and compliment me that my overall impression has become much more refined and atmospheric. I hesitated because autologous costal cartilage seemed burdensome due to pain and scarring from harvesting, but choosing donated costal cartilage made recovery easier and gave the tip firm, stable support, so I am extremely satisfied. I have finally let go of my worries about complications from my previous failed surgeries. After wandering for so long, I feel I have finally found the perfect nose line I had been searching for, and these days I am moved every time I look in the mirror. I used to avoid cameras, but lately I find myself taking many photos from the side without realizing it. If you are suffering like me because of a failed previous surgery or revision-rhinoplasty complications, I hope you find a hospital with extensive revision experience and strong skills and achieve a successful result!
