Nose Surgery Reviews

How long it took to resolve contracture

I have had three nose surgeries in total, including this one. Silicone and Medpor were used in my first and second surgeries, but at some point my nose began throbbing and turning red, and then it even started feeling hot. At first I thought it was just temporary inflammation, but my nose gradually became shorter and the tip felt severely pulled whenever I smiled or talked. Eventually, all the original materials were removed because of contracture, but the problem was that removing them did not return my nose to its original state. The tip was already turned upward and my nostrils were clearly exposed, so the stress of looking in the mirror reached its peak. I even had a dispute with the previous clinic for over a year about this problem. The terrible clinic initially denied that it was contracture, then eventually said they would operate again. Honestly, my trust in them was already gone, so I did not want another surgery there. In the end, we settled on the condition that they would cover 30% of the revision cost, but the process was truly exhausting. When I was looking into my third surgery, I was much more worried about what would happen if it went wrong again than about becoming prettier. It was not only the money; I also did not want to go through surgery and recovery all over again, and above all, I was afraid the contracture would recur. So this time I mainly researched revision surgery for a contracted nose and visited several clinics for consultations. The clinic where I had surgery specializes in contracted-nose revisions. During the consultation, they showed me a projected surgical plan and explained how much could be improved. Since my nose had already been badly damaged, I could not even dream of a high bridge or glamorous line, so I simply asked them to make the tip less turned up and let the nostrils look normal. Even after surgery, I could not relax for quite some time. At first, my nose still looked short because of the swelling, and whenever it felt even slightly tight or red, I wondered if the contracture was returning and kept checking the mirror. After one or two months, the swelling gradually subsided, and from around three months, I could visibly see that the shape of the tip and nostrils had changed. It has now been one year since surgery. The severe pulling sensation and heat are gone, and the upward turning of the tip and nostril exposure have improved considerably. That does not mean I now live without any worries. After experiencing contracture once, even a little redness makes me nervous, and when I occasionally feel discomfort, I become anxious for no reason. Undergoing three surgeries left me extremely exhausted both physically and mentally. Thinking about the dispute with the previous clinic still stresses me out. I no longer have any desire for my nose to become prettier. I just hope no more problems arise and that it stays as it is. People who have experienced contracture will understand, but it is not simply a matter of disliking the shape of your nose. I never want to go through this again..
