About 10 years ago, I had surgery with Gore-Tex and ear cartilage. During this consultation, I found out that the Gore-Tex had been inserted all the way to the nasal tip. But so far, my nasal tip hasn’t drooped or anything. I’m looking into revision surgery because my nasal bridge and starting point are too high, and I’ve seen many posts saying that you need to have surgery with costal cartilage to prevent nasal tip drooping. The place I went to for a revision consultation said they would use ear cartilage and silicone.
I was told that these days, silicone is not inserted all the way to the nasal tip. So is that why nasal tip drooping happens nowadays? (when using ear cartilage)
I’m considering revision surgery, and since the Gore-Tex inserted about 10 years ago extends all the way to the nasal tip, should I understand it as: naturally, even though ear cartilage was used, it didn’t droop; and these days, because silicone isn’t inserted all the way to the tip, it droops when ear cartilage is used??
Now that I’m looking into having surgery, I realize there’s just so much I don’t know.
