It’s been 6 months since I had double jaw surgery + 2 types of facial contouring.
It feels like just yesterday that I got surgery in the summer and had a hard time with intermaxillary fixation for 2 weeks, but already 6 months have passed and it’s winter now.
I wasn’t like this when I was young, but as I grew up, I think facial asymmetry developed,, Especially when taking photos, the asymmetry and how my mouth looked too protruded from the side were complexes for me. Actually, at first I went to a plastic surgery clinic for a consultation to look into facial contouring surgery, but the consultant at the plastic surgery clinic said that to solve the essential (fundamental) issue, I would need double jaw surgery. So after looking things up online, on apps, YouTube, and so on, I came to think that getting double jaw surgery from an oral and maxillofacial surgery specialist would be safe and also likely to have good results. I went for consultations at three oral and maxillofacial surgery clinics, and every hospital told me I was a double jaw surgery case (asymmetry, protruding lower jaw, retruded chin), so I had double jaw surgery and 2 types of facial contouring (square jaw, chin tip) at Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!
Now I think almost all the swelling has gone down, and at this point I’m fully used to my post-op face and satisfied with it. I took lots of photos of my face before surgery, so every time I look back at them, I feel that my face has become much slimmer and more refined.
Before getting surgery, when I consulted with the doctor, I asked for it to look natural, and I really think that was a good decision. Thanks to that, my satisfaction with the surgery is extremely high, and people around me also tell me very often that the surgery turned out so well. When I visit the hospital and look at the before-and-after X-ray bone images, it seems like there isn’t a huge difference, but when you see my actual face, it changed a lot. I realized that a difference of just a few mm can be huge. If you’re scheduled for surgery or going for consultations, please talk a lot with your doctor so you can have surgery without regrets :)
