As he got older, the bags under my dad’s eyes gradually became more pronounced, with shadows beneath them, and as his daughter I kept worrying whenever we took photos. Even with the best cosmetics, they could not be concealed, and people would say, “You look tired today,” even when he was feeling well, which upset me. After much deliberation, I decided to take my dad in for lower blepharoplasty. Since it was his first eye surgery, he was very worried beforehand that it might look too obvious or change his appearance. What we wanted was not a dramatic change, but for only the area under his eyes to be refined naturally. Now the bags that bothered him most have been greatly reduced, and the contour extending downward is smoother than before, so I am very satisfied as his daughter. Even when he is sitting still without smiling, the area under his eyes looks much cleaner and brighter. People around us have said, “Nothing looks dramatically different, but somehow your face looks much less tired,” and “You look younger.” Haha, it is exactly the natural change we wanted, so both my dad and I are much happier. Since it was his first surgery, we deliberated for a really long time, but when I see how pleased my dad is while looking in the mirror these days, I think, “I should have done this for him sooner.” Because it refined only the areas that bothered him without making him look excessively different, I feel it was truly a great surgery as a gift to my dad.
