Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

Double-jaw surgery after three-part facial contouring, then revision double-jaw surgery again

I originally had a three-part facial contouring surgery because my face was large and the contour lines were uneven. I was planning a career where looking good on camera mattered, but after contouring, although my facial line looked smoother on camera, the left-right asymmetry had not improved. In fact, with less width and empty space, my face even looked longer than before.

After researching, I learned about double-jaw surgery and, based on the unfounded belief that oral and maxillofacial surgery would be safer, chose a clinic near Gangnam Station. My bite was not greatly misaligned, but there was almost no external change. The surgery was said to take about five hours, but I went in in the morning and woke up close to 8 p.m. The postoperative X-rays still showed no improvement in the asymmetry or long facial area. I also developed snoring that I had never had before, so I gave up on further surgery for a while.

But because I see my face every day, I kept worrying about it, and the person living with me began pointing out the snoring. I started looking again, thinking this would truly be my last surgery. I personally consulted about 15 places, including dental and plastic-surgery clinics and university hospitals outside Seoul.

Since I had already undergone two surgeries, I absolutely did not want to fail this time. I researched very carefully, deciding not to choose unless every part was convincing. The only place that explained not just the appearance but also my functional problems—snoring, airway, and temporomandibular joint—was CBK Plastic Surgery.

Other clinics told me to see an ENT because the worsening snoring was unrelated to surgery. CBK listened properly, considered possible causes, and explained how it might be improved. They also carefully explained that a failed revision could make me look older, that my airway was considerably narrowed and might even cause breathing problems, and that the difference in the facial midline was putting strain on my jaw joint.

I was especially worried about nerve damage because I already had some nerve injury after the first contouring surgery. The director showed me papers presented overseas and explained his research process for safely operating on patients concerned about revision surgery or nerve damage, which reassured me greatly.

I have many worries and questions, so the initial consultation lasted about two hours, and I returned for three more consultations. Every time, they explained everything meticulously without showing any annoyance. I came to feel that if this really was my last surgery in life, I wanted to entrust it to this director, and I decided to have surgery at CBK.

After surgery, it was much less difficult than I had expected. I could speak better than expected, so I returned to work quickly. Most surprisingly, the swelling was much less than after my previous double-jaw surgery or the first three-part contouring surgery. I could also immediately feel that breathing was easier, perhaps because my airway had widened.

It has now been about two years, and I am definitely satisfied with the external result. My friends say I look younger and cuter, and my mother now smiles and says my childhood face has come back. I have also introduced the clinic to several friends.

I have no numbness now and can eat without problems. As someone who had revision surgery, it is very reassuring that even two years later I am living normally without any problems.

Only after multiple surgeries did I finally think, “I’m really glad I entrusted myself to Director Choi Bong-gyun.” I even wish I had learned about CBK sooner. I am sincerely grateful to the director.

But I need to have the fixation pins removed, and I’m hesitating because it’s so expensive. I spent all my money, so I have none left
