Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

Six-month review after double-jaw surgery and two-part facial contouring

Hello! I had double-jaw surgery and two-part facial contouring—square jaw and chin—on March 17 because my temporomandibular joint problems were severe, and six months have already passed. I wondered whether time was really passing, but spring and summer have gone and now it is autumn lol. As expected, time seems to be the answer after surgery T_T haha. I had been aware of my facial asymmetry since childhood, but at some point opening my jaw became uncomfortable and stiff, and my jaw joint hurt a lot whenever I ate meat or chewy foods T_T. I eventually visited a dentist first and decided to have surgery and orthodontic treatment together, so I started preoperative orthodontics. My first double-jaw consultation was at [Clinic A]. I also consulted other hospitals, but I liked most that Dr. Lee Seok-jae only told me exactly what was necessary. Anyway, after six months, the first month after surgery felt like a battle with swelling. I bought swelling-reducing drinks, and I heard walking is good for reducing swelling, but I returned to work on postoperative day 7 and hardly walked T_T. That may be why the swelling lasted so long T_T. Still, I consistently used warm compresses two or three times a day, and they seemed to help the swelling a lot! After wearing and removing the wafer for about a month, I diligently visited the orthodontic clinic, and from the third month I could eat most foods without discomfort. But my jaw joints had been quite poor even before surgery, so I avoided hard foods as much as possible and never ate tough meat. Now that six months have passed, I can eat cubed radish kimchi and chewy foods well! haha. These days, my lower lip and chin still feel tingly, but it is not particularly uncomfortable, and I think it will feel better with more time. People around me do not even realize I had double-jaw surgery and say, “Why is your face so small?” haha. It feels good every time I hear that haha. That must be thanks to the director performing the surgery so naturally, right? Anyway, my orthodontic treatment is going well and my facial symmetry has improved, so I am very satisfied. Now I live without remembering my preoperative face. I am surprised whenever I see the preoperative photos… haha. I also went to many consultations at surgical hospitals, and as someone from outside Seoul, I traveled to Seoul for consultations constantly. I feel I made the right choice having it done at [Clinic A] haha. If you are worried about your jaw joints, go for a consultation at [Clinic A]. It is genuinely trustworthy.
