At first, I spent a lot of time deliberating over whether to have nose surgery at all. Even if I did, I did not want the change to be too obvious. In particular, since I had a bulbous nose, I did not want the tip to be made unconditionally sharp, and because I also had a dorsal hump, I thought it was important to establish the overall line properly. During consultations, rather than simply raising the bridge, I looked for a clinic that would consider both the bulbous nose and dorsal hump in harmony with my nose shape. While consulting with Dr. Choo Seong-cheol at [Clinic A], I explained the look I wanted. I did not want the bridge too high or the tip excessively pointed; I wanted it to look natural while keeping the nasal line defined. The doctor explained what approach would suit my nose after examining its condition, so it was easy to decide on a direction during the consultation haha. At first, I wondered whether I really needed autologous costal cartilage for a first surgery, but after the consultation I felt it would be good for stabilizing the tip, so I decided on it. Since my nose was bulbous, I thought it was important to give the tip a certain amount of structural support. Since I was having surgery anyway, I wanted to properly create the shape I wanted, so I went ahead with autologous costal cartilage.
Now that about four months have passed, the feeling is definitely very different from the beginning. There is hardly any change in the apparent shape of my nose due to swelling anymore, and the overall line seems to have settled to some extent, so I am living comfortably. The tip, which used to be bulbous, no longer looks spread out as before, and the blunt-looking impression from the front has also decreased considerably. The side line that bothered me because of the dorsal hump has been refined, and the transition from the bridge to the tip also seems more natural. It is not an unconditionally high, pointed nose; the tip is moderately defined and suits my overall proportions, so I think it turned out similarly to the direction we discussed at the first consultation. Perhaps because the tip was supported with autologous costal cartilage, the line stays well defined from the side without the tip looking weak and spread out, and the tip shape also remains neat from the front, which I like.
Now, more than the shape of my nose itself, I think I notice the difference when doing makeup or going about daily life. In the past, because of my bulbous nose, I paid attention to contouring the tip in various ways, but these days it is convenient because the line is fairly defined even without doing much haha. I think these are the advantages I have felt over time, beyond what I expected when I first had surgery.
