Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

I had double-jaw surgery because of my crooked lips, long face, and appearance-related distress

Double-jaw surgery + two contouring procedures (square jaw + chin) performed together ✨ This is my honest one-month post-op review ❣️ I’m a high school student, and whenever I looked in the mirror, my crooked lips, long face, long mandibular angles, and square jaw stood out so much that my stress reached its peak and my appearance-related distress became severe 🥲 So, solely for cosmetic purposes, I decided to undergo double-jaw surgery and two contouring procedures (square jaw + front chin) all at once! I searched extensively for reviews, complications, and hospital information on plastic-surgery apps and online communities. Then I saw many reviews saying that surgery at an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic was safer and better, so I had my surgery at [Clinic A]! The surgeon places great importance on safety and has especially good aesthetic sense, so my facial line turned out exactly as I wanted ☺️ (It may even be prettier than I hoped..💗) Anyway! [Clinic A] performs only one surgery per day, allows CCTV viewing, prioritizes temporomandibular-joint safety and bone-fixation methods, provides post-op care, and does not pressure patients during consultations! While consulting, I felt this was the right hospital, so I immediately paid a deposit and went into surgery! Honestly, it was a very frightening major operation, but after recovering and watching the swelling go down, I’m so satisfied that every day feels happy 😄 I’m writing this in detail by day, recalling what happened one month later, in case there are others stressed about their facial shape and this can help! Surgery day–day 2: I lay on the operating table, inhaled the anesthetic gas, and when I opened my eyes, all the surgery was already over and I was in the recovery room. Surprisingly, I had no swelling on the day of surgery! But my throat and nose were swollen, so even breathing was painful. It was hard to breathe through my mouth. I had to breathe only through my nose, but the aftereffects of the anesthetic gas mixed with nasal discharge and really blocked my breathing. Days 3–5: This was the peak period when my face was the most swollen ever. Do you know the photos of dogs stung by bees? My face was swollen exactly like that.. My neck was swollen too, and I wondered dozens of times, “Why did I put myself through this?” At this point I had to consume only liquid foods! I endured it by having New Care, blended white rice porridge, and protein shakes 🥺 The bruising stayed around my jaw until days 3–5, then gradually moved down toward my neck and disappeared! Week 1 to week 2: The swelling had gone down compared with days 3–5, but my face was still swollen and very tender I went for walks, applied hot and cold packs diligently, and endured it while eating liquid foods and hoping time would pass quickly Week 2 (stitch removal): After getting through the severe swelling peak of days 3–5, I visited the hospital in week 2 and had the stitches inside my mouth neatly removed! Once the stitches were removed, the tightness inside my mouth was much better, and the tenderness and heavy feeling in my face had also subsided. Honestly, I think you just have to endure until week 2! Because the jaw is fixed after double-jaw surgery, I still couldn’t open my mouth wide whenever I wanted, but after all the stitches were removed in week 2, I couldn’t help saying that life had become much more bearable. Now, exactly one month later! Today marks exactly one month since surgery! 🙈 (So moved ✨) As you can see from my post-op photos, after double-jaw surgery my nose looks higher, so my desire to have rhinoplasty completely disappeared, my overall facial proportions are balanced and my impression looks different! Most importantly, my face looks smaller 🫪 My contour lines came out clean and smooth 🤍🔥 People around me even said they couldn’t tell I’d had surgery and that it looked natural haha. My one-month review!! First, the swelling you’re probably most curious about: the swelling that peaked during days 3–5 has honestly almost completely gone down, to the point that the earlier severity feels unreal! But everyone is different, so please keep that in mind! Also, my long face, square jaw, chin, and lip asymmetry—all the things that had stressed me out—have disappeared so neatly that I feel as if I was reborn ✨ Functional changes (bite and chewing): I still can’t open my mouth completely wide, but I can eat soft porridge, bread, soft tofu, steamed eggs, mashed potatoes, and similar foods normally! Sensation: My lower lip and chin area still feel tingly and numb, as if the anesthesia has not fully worn off, and they do not feel quite like my own skin. However, the surgeon said this is a natural recovery process as the bones heal, rather than nerve damage, so I’m waiting!! In conclusion! If you just get through days 3–5, when the swelling peaks, it becomes bearable haha. During the first few days, it was genuinely hard to breathe and my face swelled as if it might burst, but time is the cure 🥲 At first I worried about everything, wondering what I would do if the swelling never went down, but I followed the hospital’s post-op care instructions and, as if by magic, the swelling subsided and the pain decreased. Now I have no pain at all!! If you undergo surgery, you should expect the pain until week 2 and understand that waiting is the only thing you can do about the swelling! They cut the bones.. haha Also, oral hygiene and nutritional supplementation are essential..! Be sure to gargle diligently after eating, and take protein shakes and New Care regularly so the bones can heal well!! I successfully underwent double-jaw surgery plus two contouring procedures ❣️ Please note that I wrote this to help those considering surgery because they have concerns similar to mine!! If you have questions about double-jaw surgery plus two contouring procedures, leave a comment and I’ll explain as much as I can in detail! Let’s all become prettier together 💗
