Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

The jaw I used to cover with a mask, now I want to throw away all my masks haha, one month since successful double jaw + contouring surgery!!

** I had surgery with Dr. Lee Yoo-gu / Dr. Kim Jong-yoon!! This is my 1-month review. Since middle school, I knew my jaw was asymmetrical and protruding forward, but I was scared of surgery, so I lived for a long time hiding it with a mask. I tried to solve it with orthodontic treatment, but as I realized the fundamental structural problem of the jaw was still there, I grew to dislike the way I unconsciously covered my jaw every time I took a photo, and I decided to face it properly. Since double jaw surgery is a major operation, I thought I should get it at a specialized oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic rather than a plastic surgery clinic, somewhere with a specialist who really understands the oral structure and can handle it properly! After comparing and consulting several hospitals, I found that the hospital that calmly and systematically explained the jaw problem based on my tooth structure, and whose plan of starting with pre-orthodontics fit my situation best, was Lee Yoo-gu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, so I had double jaw surgery and contouring surgery together with Dr. Kim Jong-yoon!! At 3 weeks after surgery, my mouth could open to about two fingers' width, so recovery had progressed. There was a bit of stiffness when doing jaw exercises, but it gradually felt smoother with repetition, my stamina came back a lot, and my daily life was stabilizing enough that I could do light walks or treadmill walking. There was still swelling, but overall it felt like I was recovering well, so I felt more relieved than anxious!! And now that it is 1 month later, the swelling that had been in my forehead and around my eyes from the cheekbone surgery also started to go down noticeably from the top, and when I visited the hospital and had the mouth opening and rubber band wearing status checked, they said I was opening my mouth well and wearing the rubber bands properly, so I was praised for my efforts and felt proud of myself. It is still a time when swelling remains, but hearing that it is a normal recovery process made me feel much more at ease haha. Comparing before and after on CT made the change in the jaw bone visibly obvious, so I felt that the recovery process I am going through now is not wasted time at all, and at present I can eat most foods that can be pressed with the roof of the mouth without much trouble, so I feel like I am returning to daily life faster than expected, and I am looking forward to how my face will become even more natural as time goes by!!!!
