This is just my subjective feeling. I had Baekja nose surgery, and I definitely felt the drawbacks of a non-open approach. If there’s no contracture and it’s been six months, you can say there’s basically no shape change, but there is a limit to correcting a crooked nose, and after a few months there is that non-open-style tip lift. Non-open surgeries in Gangnam are mostly done well by ENT specialists, and because they operate that way, what matters most later is structural issues and the result. The advantages of Baekja nose surgery seem to be that the chance of contracture or inflammation is extremely low, there’s no incision scar on the columella side, and because the tip uses autologous rib cartilage, the tip doesn’t droop easily, which seems like the biggest advantage. But during consultation they mostly listened to the image I was aiming for, and focused on natural noses versus glamorous noses, so it felt like it was centered on the side profile. Maybe that’s why, if it was a photo review event, people’s front photos aren’t visible and most are 45-degree or side photos. There are a reason why so many skilled doctors in Gangnam mostly do open surgery, about 80 to 90 percent. I only realized that after surgery. If a crooked nose isn’t corrected properly, even if it’s not 99 percent, if it’s not set correctly it can tilt to one side, causing columella asymmetry and uneven nostrils, so the front view doesn’t look pretty. I think the rhinitis surgery went well, but for aesthetic sense, a plastic surgery specialist is definitely better. They are kind during consultation too, but like most doctors, they seem to look at you, think of a design in their head, then only ask about the natural versus glamorous look in the image you want and make slight changes. There’s no detailed consultation. The consultation details are lacking. Even before surgery, the consultation just seems to be, looking at the bridge, tip material, and height, saying they’ll make it pretty and do a good job. They decide the glabella, where the bridge starts, and the nasolabial angle on their own. From the clinic reviews, the glabella is mostly high. Since it’s non-open, I don’t think there’s any follow-up management afterward. There’s no scar, so I ended up writing too much, so I’ll stop here.
