For the sake of consultation depth, and considering the opportunity cost for the doctor and the director, I think charging a consultation fee is only natural anywhere. Of course, free consultations often attract a lot of empty inquiries, so they inevitably become perfunctory, and the opportunity cost from free consultations is also passed on to the people actually getting surgery, while making it harder for someone who is truly desperate for surgery to even book. So I actually view paid consultations more favorably. But even I felt disappointed about the consultation fees. After a paid remote consultation that I was satisfied with, I asked about confirming surgery and said I would deposit the reservation fee. Then I asked whether the in-person consultation fee would be paid too, and they said yes, it is paid. Even if you confirm surgery and put down a non-refundable reservation fee, they still charge the consultation fee no matter what. I am not ignoring the staff's opportunity cost, but this is a patient who is so eager for surgery that they are saying they will put down the reservation fee to confirm surgery here, and I think charging both the remote consultation fee and the in-person consultation fee is a bit too much. Also, if you want to reserve surgery, you have to pay a deposit, but regarding the fact that it is absolutely non-refundable, they only gave me the account number and did not inform me properly. When I said I would deposit the reservation fee and then cancel, I understand that time and financial losses arise from consultation and surgery preparation, but I only found out by reading a community forum that even if you cancel immediately after payment, you cannot get the reservation fee refunded. I don't know whether other hospitals are like this, and maybe they all are. Of course, a reservation fee is something you should think about carefully before paying, but please make sure you are truly certain you will not change your mind before making the reservation. Their YouTube videos feel very trustworthy, they explain things with clear evidence through CT scans, and the remote consultation was satisfying and my expectations were high. But even when I tried calling before confirming to ask about the in-person consultation or any questions, it was hard to get through to the director because they seemed busy with a lot of reservations, and I was a little disappointed by the staff member's kindness as well. When you look at post-op patients, they also have data by date, and they show photos from the front, 45 degrees, and the side, always explaining things properly using data, and I liked that they spoke based on CT scans, and they were refreshingly honest about saying a part I brought up was actually not necessary, and they seemed highly credible and professional. But even after visiting several places for in-person quotes, among the four places this one had by far the most expensive contouring surgery cost (X1.5 to X3), which was too much of a burden. Even after doing the remote consultation and moving toward surgery confirmation, the extra consultation fees and other double charges felt disappointing right before I was about to put down the reservation fee, so I decided to go with a cheaper place where the staff is a little kinder. I don't know about the surgery itself since I didn't get it, but I do strongly recommend the consultation. If you are thinking of getting surgery here, I recommend preparing your questions and concerns carefully so you do not end up paying consultation fees twice, and if possible, get a single in-person consultation instead of a remote one. (But don't go in half-heartedly just to save money; prepare your questions carefully.) Please keep in mind that even the first surgery, not just revision surgery, is expensive, and that the staff member handling phone calls and consultations is not very friendly.
