To say the conclusion first: <Please don’t do it...> If you absolutely, really have to do it, then at most the folded-ear surgery. But folded-ear surgery is semi-permanent, lol. They even said that during the consultation. Someone who had surgery with me got folded-ear surgery, and in less than half a year it returned to how it was before. Two of us had surgery together, and to explain the procedures each of us got: I had surgery to straighten a folded auricle, and the other person had folded-ear surgery plus pointed-ear surgery. In the end, both of us regret it 100%. *For reference: my original belief is like this: plastic surgery is something you choose yourself out of your own desire, so if you regret it, what can you do? I usually just think, wow, I made a really stupid choice, and move on, but I’m writing this for the public good. (Please understand that the tone and readability are not great because I’m writing quickly.) First of all, the value for money is absolutely terrible. Just the auricle surgery cost about 400, and the total for the two of us was around 1000. Why do I regret it? Because both the auricle surgery and the folded-ear + pointed-ear surgery are basically no different from before. In just a few months it went back to how it was, and all that’s left are scars. It feels like I bought scars for 10 million won. Worse, because of the fat grafting? needed for the auricle surgery, they cut my groin open about 10 cm, and I really wondered if this was right... Now it’s become a hypertrophic scar, bumpy and uneven, and I feel self-conscious every time I wear underwear lol. Laser treatment is planned. - For reference, before surgery they said that when wearing a bikini it would only show slightly, but that is absolutely not true lol. And the most important thing. ******It hurts like crazy. Really, wouldn’t even bone-cutting surgeries like facial contouring hurt less than this? Even the person who removed my stitches said so, that because the ear is one of the most sensitive areas, facial contouring might actually hurt less lol (for reference, they also do facial contouring here) I’ve had eyes and nose done, and I’ve also had implants, laser, Botox, contour injections, and other small procedures, but I can say without comparison that this was the most painful surgery by far. It even hurts for a long time. The pain does get better gradually, but it lasts at least for months. They said the folded ear could come back after a few months. But there was no pre-op explanation that the auricle surgery might revert, or that the pointed-ear scar would be this severe, other than for the folded-ear surgery. It seems like the ear is not something to mess with. It’s not even a very visible area since you can cover it with hair... Unless you have an actual condition like microtia, I want to tell people not to touch it. If at least the pain or cost were lower, maybe, but if you think in percentages, pain 100, cost 100, effect 0, I honestly don’t even know what kind of surgery this is lol. Before surgery, please, seriously, do some self-reflection on whether you’re emotionally unstable right now or obsessing over a part of your body for some other reason... No matter how I think about it, there’s no reason for a person to go and remodel their ears...
