I had it done right after finishing the college entrance exam 12 years ago because I had always been self-conscious about my small eyes. I went on a friend's recommendation and had medial and lateral canthoplasty together. The eyes opened up nicely, so I am still satisfied, but severe scar tissue developed, and for 12 years acquaintances have almost heard me say every day, “Oh, you have a stye.” Of course, having it done was a hundred times better than before, but the scar tissue is disappointing. Since I am a man, I think I have lived without giving it much thought, but it is still a little awkward to explain with a smile whenever I hear that comment. Still, I have good memories of the staff being kind.
