디아이 — Review

디아이

My nose was operated on 20 years ago with L-shaped silicone, but the skin on the tip of my nose had become very thin and shortened, and because of rhinitis I needed revision surgery. So I thought this would be my last surgery and visited hospitals one by one to find one that was good at revision nose surgery. Among them, the hospital I liked best was DI. While I was going around for consultations, the directors each had different surgical methods and designs they aimed for, such as functional rib cartilage or autologous rib cartilage ++ silicone for the bridge + functional nose surgery, or surgery using only functional nose surgery + ear cartilage + septal cartilage. For one thing, I didn't want to use donor rib cartilage, and if I had surgery using only ear cartilage and septal cartilage, the tip of the nose could droop later. Also, my own septum wasn't that large to begin with. And above all, looking at my current nose, which had had surgery but showed no visible signs of surgery at all, I didn't want my revision surgery to be like that either. I wanted something natural, but with the short-nose feeling and lifted shape improved, and since I was already investing time and money, I wanted it to look prettier too.. Director Jeong Yeon-ik said that one of the biggest points that made me choose this hospital was that he uses autologous rib cartilage well, and that by harvesting autologous rib cartilage and using soft tissue for a nostril base augmentation, he could support the bridge of the nose and more effectively create volume and height. Even though it was functional nose surgery and a revision surgery, the operation took 2 hours. Because I'm older, I had a lot of worries about the wound and recovery from autologous rib cartilage, but the incision was less than 2 cm, and now that a month has passed it has healed well and the scar probably won't be very noticeable. For the first 2 weeks after surgery it felt a bit tight, but now the autologous rib cartilage is so fine that I don't even need to worry about it. In fact, right now the inside of my nostrils intermittently feels tingly, and when I asked, they said it's part of the recovery process as the nerves are coming back. I hope it stays like this without any inflammatory reaction. In my case, the swelling was most reduced at the 2-week mark, and it took about 3 weeks for the small bruises to disappear too. As for the rhinitis, honestly I can't really tell yet. Breathing isn't uncomfortable, but the sensation hasn't fully returned yet, so I think I need to keep watching whether it has an effect. My insurance covered it through actual medical expense reimbursement, and I was reimbursed. They handled the paperwork well, so there was nothing special I needed to add. Also, the staff are very kind; the surgery room, desk, and consultation manager were all gentle and answered questions well. In the end, it's been about a month since the surgery, and every time I look in the mirror I'm completely satisfied. Looking at my old photos, the front view was okay, but the side view made my nose look too small, too short, and ugly. Now it's been fully corrected, and the results are better than I expected in terms of both height and nose-tip length. I think I chose the hospital well.
