After surgery with tear-drop implants, the shape was pretty, but the scar in my armpit was a total disaster. Later I visited the hospital to have the armpit scar removed, but that doctor had moved to another hospital, and since they said there would be a fee, plus I already had issues with the tear-drop implant, I decided that rather than pay to remove the scar, I would switch to smooth implants and get the scar removed at the same time, so I had revision surgery. At the revision consultation, I talked about whether the dimpling-like indentation along the cleavage line when using my arms, and the animation-like effect of the implant riding upward, could be improved. They said it would improve, but instead of improving, it got even worse. When I mentioned it after surgery, they said smooth implants are softer so it can only stand out more. Both the first and second doctors said it was due to my muscles, but if that were the case, then during revision surgery they should have recommended surgery over the muscle instead of a dual-plane approach, and that would have been the proper thing to do. (Even if I bend slightly over a sink and just wash my hands, the dimpling on the cleavage area is visible.) I re-contacted them more than a year later because the armpit scar got worse, but the counselor kept saying it wasn’t that severe and would get better with time. Even more than 4 years after the first surgery, the redness of the scar was still there, and even more than a year after the revision surgery, the result was the same, so I feel bitter that a simple consultation coordinator, not a specialist, keeps making diagnoses. I asked several times for the doctor to be sent photos of the scar, but there was no response. In the end, I visited the hospital and had the scar removed again, but even after the stitches were taken out, the buried sutures inside the skin pushed up through the surface, and even now, a year later, I can still feel pain in my armpit, so the result was a total disaster. If possible, I recommend getting surgery at a hospital where communication with the hospital is good and where post-op wound care is also available.
