I had removal surgery in February 2025. Thirteen years ago, I had nose surgery using only ear cartilage to augment the tip. One day, I noticed cartilage showing through near the tip and the nose had become slightly crooked to one side. There was no problem, so I left it alone, but one day that area began to turn red periodically and I felt pulling at the tip, so I thought something was wrong. I then visited clinics specializing in implant removal. I did not care about modern interior design or anything like that; I only looked at the doctor's expertise. Rather than a doctor with a long career who was merely kind, I wanted someone who communicated well and had a clear philosophy about their surgery. I also avoided places where the person handling price consultations had undergone excessive cosmetic procedures or recommended various surgeries despite not being a doctor. I deliberated for about a month before finding a clinic. I think I spent that month searching whenever I had spare time. This was the clinic I eventually chose. It had to be a clinic that had remained for a long time without changing its name. I liked the process of consulting with the director first and the coordinator afterward, so I booked an appointment, paid the deposit that day, and had the removal surgery on my desired date. The director was not extremely friendly, but explained the surgery in tremendous detail. I felt that his surgical philosophy and sense of responsibility were excellent. When I asked whether aftercare for nose removal was available, he did not evade the question and said of course he would handle it if a problem arose. He said he would make this removal surgery the last one for my nose, so I thought, 'This is the doctor,' and paid the deposit that day. (The coordinator was somewhat older but extremely kind. She even bought me porridge while I was in the recovery room after surgery.) What I liked about the director's consultation was that when I brought photos and explanations of the nose shape I wanted, along with my questions, he explained in great detail what was possible and why something else was not. The director seemed conservative by nature and to prioritize safety. (So he probably decides carefully about things such as multiple revision surgeries...) Since I have asthma, he took that into serious consideration during the surgery, and in the end my nose became similar to my original nose. I liked the doctor so much that I wanted to have my eyes done too, but he told me to just leave them alone, so I gave up and am living as I am. At present, the scars on my nose are barely visible. The scars left from my old nose surgery used to be noticeable, but now they are almost invisible, so I am satisfied.
