I never intended to get double-jaw surgery, but because of my malocclusion correction, I had no choice but to choose it. It was a hospital I went to through a friend's recommendation, but if you're doing double-jaw surgery, go to an oral surgery specialist... seriously. Post-surgery side effects 1. Nasal widening after double-jaw surgery (I'm stressed, so lately I've been thinking about nose surgery) 2. Nerve damage - It's been 5 years since the surgery, but all sensation in my lower lip still hasn't returned. The doctor said it would all come back within a year, but only 50% came back. When I touch my lower lip, it doesn't feel like my lip, and I have to live my whole life feeling like I'm slightly numbed and just coming out of anesthesia. 3. Sagging skin - Compared with cases of prognathism, cases with a recessed chin sag less, but sagging happens no matter what. What good is correcting a recessed chin with double-jaw surgery if the skin sags and a double chin forms so the jawline isn't visible? For the first 1-2 years after surgery I had a jawline, but after that a double chin formed and I looked like I had a recessed chin again. And while correcting the upper jaw, the nasolabial area beside the nose also sagged. 4. My facial expression became awkward when I smile - my smile changed into one that makes the nasolabial folds stand out a lot. Also, because of a hospital mistake the surgery was done wrong, so this major operation had to be redone 3 weeks later... It was my first surgery in life and I was young then, so I didn't understand what was going on, but I regret having double-jaw surgery at a plastic surgery clinic.
