Nose Surgery review at Kohen (코헨) · Hump nose correction · 2022-12-19

I went in for a consultation because I was worried about my nasal hump. I was late for the appointment, but the staff and everyone were still kind, and I was able to go into the consultation with almost no waiting time. It is a private clinic and there is one doctor. During the consultation, I had gone looking to have only the hump shaved down without an open approach, but because my nasal tip droops and I already have a long midface, they said that if only the hump were shaved, my nose would look longer, and that if they did not perform osteotomy it would look uneven, so they recommended nasal tip surgery. They recommended using septal cartilage, but I did not want it to become a pig nose, and I was also scared that I might later have to remove it because of a foreign-body sensation, so I asked whether it would be possible to do only the shaving. They said they could shave it, but did not seem very willing and said I would probably be dissatisfied with the shape. Hump shaving without an open approach is 1.6 million won, and if the nasal tip is done too, it seems to come to around 3.2 million won. There were no photos taken or anything like that; they just checked my nose briefly in person and explained the basic surgery details. I did not feel very inclined toward the nasal tip surgery, and it did not feel like they considered my face as a whole. My nasal bone is very developed overall, to the point that I was teased as a child for looking like a Western person with a big nose, and my tip is also fairly prominent, so if septal cartilage is used it seems like it would become too much. Since the hump protrudes in the middle of the nose and creates a curve from the front, making the face look longer, I think several factors need to be considered, but the explanation felt somewhat standardized.
