Reason for deciding on surgery before and after: My eyes are large and my pupils are on the bigger side, but a few years ago my eyes started to droop badly, and it became especially hard to open my left eye. As my double eyelids started to overlap in multiple folds, I felt a lot of discomfort. I tried using double eyelid tape to make my eyes open wider, but it did not work well, so I decided I needed surgery. Reason for choosing the hospital: At first I went to a clinic in Yeongdeungpo for an eye exam and surgery consultation, but the ophthalmologist said that because my eyes were large and I already had a natural double eyelid, it was a more difficult surgery and did not recommend immediate surgery. So while I was looking into several hospitals, I went to a plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam and, during the consultation, was referred to another hospital.
From consultation to surgery at the hospital: The director explained things kindly and designed the shape while checking the double eyelid line several times. I came to trust them because they were thorough and honest, so I decided to have the surgery. The staff were generally kind. However, using the restroom felt inconvenient. Another slightly disappointing point was that while the directors' surgical skills and the staff's kindness were good, it seems hard to get much help in the recovery room. In fact, after surgery, even as the anesthesia wore off, my condition was not very good.
Surgery name: Double eyelid Recovery process: For the first week or so, I was swollen and had a lot of bruising, so I only used cold compresses at home. I also practiced opening my eyes wide little by little. Right after the first day of surgery, my field of vision clearly became wider. Until then, opening my eyes had felt uncomfortable, but I was happy that I could open them more comfortably.
Discomfort after surgery: After the sleep anesthesia wore off, I kept feeling nauseated, vomited several times, and my body felt cold and shaky.
Improvements after surgery / things I hope for: It was hard to open my eyes, they were droopy, and I felt like the two sides were uneven, but after the surgery they seem to be about the same size.
