When I woke up, one side of my breast had disappeared (surgery from a long time ago), so I urgently had to book consultations for the same day. I spent the whole day doing online research through a community, narrowed down the options, called around, and scheduled consultations. Since it was the same day, it was hard to match the appointment times, but I squeezed them in and went to 4 places throughout the day. 1. ㄴㄴ I had not been considering it because it was a large hospital, but I had time in the morning, so I fit it in. When I told the consultant that one breast had disappeared, she said I needed a detailed ultrasound and had me sign for a 200,000 KRW ultrasound. It was the first hospital I visited, and since one side had ruptured, I was anxious, so I signed. I found out later after visiting other places, but the ultrasound was the same as at the other hospitals. Doctor consultation = the type who says, “I’ll do it however you want, ask anything you’re curious about.” The quote was the cheapest. 2. ㄹㅇㅇ They properly explained my condition and said they could do it through the transaxillary incision I wanted (my previous surgery was also transaxillary). I did not want another scar from an inframammary fold incision, and they confidently said they could do it transaxillary, remove the messy remaining previous scar, and minimize the scar. They also explained my breast shape and the surgical direction well on their own, so I trusted them. The quote was expensive. 3. ㄱㄹ The doctor was blunt. Recommended an inframammary fold incision over a transaxillary incision. Explained why they recommended the inframammary fold incision. The quote was average. 4. ㄱㄹ They said safety was important and that they only do inframammary fold incisions. The consultant was warm and kind. There was a consultation fee (ultrasound fee). The quote was expensive. 5. ㄴㅌ I did not go here, and when I called to make a reservation, they told me in advance, “The rough quote will be over 14 million KRW, so please know that before coming.” Because of the female consultant who seemed like she was trying to overcharge me without even seeing my condition, I canceled the visit.
After going around like this, I decided on the surgery by phone that evening. It was such a shock that one breast had disappeared, so I had to decide quickly. I wrote this actual consultation-visit review because I wanted to raise my level in the community. I can’t tell you the estimated cost; asking the hospital will probably be the fastest.
