My eyes aren’t exactly small, but they didn’t look very defined, and whenever I took photos, I kept feeling like I looked a bit dull. It bothered me, so it was subtly stressful, and there was only so much I could cover with makeup.
I didn’t search around everywhere extensively; I was reading reviews and went for one consultation at a plastic surgery clinic. During the consultation, they looked at my eye structure and explained that rather than widening them too much, it would suit me better to naturally lengthen only the horizontal width. What they mentioned was the 3-way canthoplasty method. Honestly, I don’t know the technical details that well(?), but I liked that the direction was to make a change without it looking too obvious.
I had the surgery around the end of December last year, and it was over faster than I expected. When I looked in the mirror afterward, I was a little surprised because I looked more normal than I thought, and I barely had any bruising. There was some swelling, but it didn’t feel severe.
A few days later, when I went to have the stitches removed, they said my recovery looked good, so I felt relieved. After about a week, the swelling went down pretty quickly. I hadn’t told people around me separately, but no one noticed; they just said things like, “You look a bit more defined these days?”
It’s been about 3 months now, and just having my eyes become slightly longer sideways has reduced that stuffy-looking feeling a lot. It’s not a dramatic change, but that’s why it looks more natural and I like it even more.
Photos definitely look better than before too, and I wonder if I worried about it for too long for no reason. I think it would be good for people who want their impression to look naturally refined rather than a very obvious change. Personally, I’m satisfied 👍
