Review on day 15 after short-nose, straight-nose, implant-free surgery at Another Plastic Surgery (Director Kim Beom-jun)

I had it done by Director K.B.J. at Another Plastic Surgery. Surgery summary - straight nose, autologous costal cartilage, no implant, short-nose surgery, columella lowering I had always been concerned about my short nose, and the look I was aiming for was “natural but glamorous” (about 70% natural, 30% glamorous?). The line I wanted was a straight line. The reason I decided to do it here was that, while looking into rhinoplasty to improve a short nose, I saw a review in a community by someone who also had a short nose like me. Their short nose had clearly improved, the nose was small and pretty, but it also was not so natural that it looked barely done. It looked feminine, as if it matched the overall balance of the face, and I thought it was pretty, so I decided and booked a consultation right away. When I went, there were not many people, so the wait was short. I had face photos and a CT taken right away, waited a bit, and then saw the director. I do not remember the consultation details well, but I will write as much as I can. I do not remember the order well, so it may be mixed up from the actual consultation order. The consultation fee, including the CT scan, was 20,000 won. Based on the CT images, he explained my nose to me. He said my septum, I think? was quite deviated, and that there was also asymmetry. He said it was a little shifted to the right and that the right nostril was slightly larger. I had lived without knowing at all that it was asymmetrical, but he caught it. Honestly, at that time, even looking at the CT I did not really understand, and I had never felt that I was asymmetrical, so I just thought, “Oh, I see.” So he said that if I had surgery, he would operate while correcting the asymmetry. Honestly, I got a little scared then. I worried, what if trying to correct the asymmetry makes my nose more shifted instead? lol But the result is that the director has golden hands. I will explain more later. While looking in the mirror, he held my nose with a cotton swab and showed that it would look like this. On the tablet, he drew the nose line on my side-profile photo, saying that if I had rhinoplasty, he would do it like this. Even looking at the drawing, I did not really understand, and I just thought he would make it pretty on his own, so I only kept saying yes. And because I did not want my nose to become too high, I emphasized that I would be okay even if the bridge stayed low, as long as the short nose improved. My nasal bridge was slightly on the low side, so he said it would be good to put in just 1 mm of silicone, but I was scared even of a small chance of side effects and only wanted the tip improved, so I said I would do it without an implant. We also talked about the design. It seemed like he preferred a straight line for men and a slightly curved line, like straight-with-a-slight-curve or a semi-scooped line, for women. Most of the reviews were like that too, but I was set on a straight line, so I showed celebrity photos. I brought photos of Jang Gyu-ri and Jiwoo from NMIXX, and I told him while showing several photos that Jang Gyu-ri’s nose looked the prettiest in the world to me. The director said that if a woman gets a straight nose, it can look a bit masculine, and it felt like he was not exactly recommending it. He said not many people come in wanting a straight nose, but if I wanted it, of course he would match it to my preference. As the consultation went on, I became really torn about the line. The director seemed to notice that and said I seemed to be thinking about it a lot. He said the surgery would involve columella lowering with rib cartilage and nasal tip surgery, roughly. The consultation ended like that, and after the director left, the consultant came in right away. She explained the surgery cost and said it would be 5.2 million won with the review-writing discount. I had heard the price was high, so I had braced myself, but I thought it was better than expected. That same day, I scheduled surgery for one week later and paid the deposit. The deposit was 500,000 won, and if I canceled within 3? 4? days, it was fully refundable. The consultant did not recommend any other procedures or surgeries, and she was smiling and kind. Also, she was so pretty that I was totally surprised inside lol Before surgery, I was informed once by text and once by phone about things like fasting for 8 hours including water and gum, bringing my ID, not driving on the day of surgery, no alcohol or smoking, and so on. One week later, on the day of surgery, the consultant came, quickly explained side effects and postoperative precautions, and had me sign the consent form. After waiting, I had a very short final surgical consultation with the director. He checked whether it would be autologous rib or donated rib, showed me the line again with a cotton swab while I looked in the mirror, and when I asked for a straight line, he showed with the cotton swab what it would feel like if it were a very slightly straight-with-curve line. But I decided on just straight. He said that if my autologous rib cartilage was heavily calcified, he would replace it with donated rib cartilage. He said that if the nose is extended too much to improve a short nose, it can become a witch nose, so it has to be extended appropriately, and that if the nostrils do not show at all it also looks strange, so it is pretty when they show an appropriate amount. That made me trust the director’s aesthetic sense. Lastly, I asked him to make it a straight line and just make it pretty in his view. The director asked, “Naturally?” - yes. “With the tip rounded?” - yes. And the final consultation ended quickly. Entering the operating room - before surgery, I changed clothes, washed my face, took face photos, went straight into the operating room, got an IV, closed my eyes, and was anesthetized immediately. I slept so deeply. He said the surgery would take 3-4 hours, but maybe the anesthesia worked really well. When I woke up, about 5 hours seemed to have passed? haha Maybe I was tired. Just in case, I think you should know and tell them your exact alcohol tolerance. I was lying in the recovery room when the director slightly opened the door and said the surgery had gone well with a straight line, that there had been a little calcification in the rib cartilage but the condition was still good, so the surgery finished safely, and then he left. I felt relieved. I was hit with insane fatigue and closed my eyes for a moment, but 30 more minutes passed and it was almost closing time for the clinic ㅠㅠ I got my prescription, quickly left, picked up the medicine, and went home. (If you use autologous rib, I recommend also getting dexibuprofen at the pharmacy. You may go through hellish rib pain for a week.. At least for me, it hurt insanely badly. On day 2, it hurt so much I cried, then asked my mom to help me get dexibu and calmed down a bit.. Dexibu has a very fast pain-relieving effect, and unlike acetaminophen such as Tylenol, I heard it also has an anti-inflammatory function. So it felt like it lowered side effects too lol They say Tylenol only acts as a painkiller. Also, Tylenol usually does not work on my menstrual cramps, but this worked well. If you are weak with pain, I really recommend it.) If possible, I recommend definitely going with a guardian on the day of surgery. If the anesthesia has not fully worn off, you feel extremely dazed and dizzy. For the 1-hour taxi ride home, I blacked out. Before falling asleep in the taxi, I barely kept myself together and ordered pumpkin porridge in advance, then arrived home, ate that, and slept. It was really hard. The packing was removed on day 2, and until it was removed, breathing and sleeping were difficult and my mouth was extremely dry, so it was hard. Still, you only have to endure that for two days. The autologous rib pain was the hardest. Also, before the packing was removed, the packing swelled with blood and made my nostrils look huge, so I was startled. But once the packing was taken out, the nostril size was normal. Do not be anxious if that happens. One week later, I had the stitches and splint removed. When I looked in the mirror, my face was very swollen and my nose looked like Squidward, so I looked so ugly. I felt depressed, but when I looked again at home, it was definitely better than my old nose, and thinking that the swelling was at its peak made me feel a bit better. I think he reflected a lot of the nose of Jang Gyu-ri that I showed him. What I was most worried about was asymmetry and uneven nostrils, but he corrected the facial asymmetry well, and the nostrils were so precisely symmetrical that I was happy just because of that. I had been so scared because when I saw rhinoplasty-failure reviews by influencers and YouTubers, most of them had uneven nostrils. Also, I liked that I now had a pretty columella, which I did not have before. However, my nostrils felt smaller, but after more time passed and the swelling went down, it became okay. After that, until week 2, I looked in the mirror constantly, but my nose looked too high, the nostrils were symmetrical but seemed too small, and my side profile looked like a witch, so I became depressed again. I worried, what if my nose stays high even after the swelling goes down? If I get revision surgery as AS, would the price be cheaper? Should I ask them to shave the tip a little shorter? Did I make a mistake choosing a straight line? It does not suit me ,,ㅠㅠ Thinking like this, I got a serious appearance-related obsession and often searched things like the swelling process after rhinoplasty. Still, my anxiety did not settle. In the end, I decided to be satisfied because my complex had been resolved. Then on day 15, I looked in the mirror, and a lot of the swelling had gone down, making it look slimmer, and the side profile that had looked witch-like looked better than before. It gave me the sleekness that comes from a straight line, so I gained a lot of confidence, and I think I look pretty even bare-faced. Before surgery, my nose was short, so even if I tilted my head back just a little, my nostrils showed clearly and my philtrum looked long, which was a huge complex. Now my philtrum looks less long, and the embarrassment about my short nose is gone, so I really like it. Conclusion: I think Director K.B.J. is good at noses because: He matches symmetry very well (nostrils, correction of existing asymmetry), designs a nose that suits each individual face (pursues femininity), reflects needs well (desired line, celebrity nose), and resolves complexes very well (short nose). Also, the scar from the incision under the nose is thin, and he sutured it delicately with thin thread, so the scar is neat. It feels like he pays a lot of attention to it. Recommended cases - short nose, people who prefer a straight-with-slight-curve or curved line (I think this is probably his specialty; I got a straight line but am satisfied), also recommended for those worried about asymmetry, glamorous to natural-but-glamorous noses. (I do not have information on whether he makes it look natural like your original nose, so I do not know. Mine seems more glamorous than expected, but I am satisfied. But it may become more natural once swelling goes down. If you want something extremely natural, I think you should emphasize it a lot, e.g., “Please make it extremely natural with no glamorous feeling at all, to the point that no one can tell I had rhinoplasty. I want a very subtle change.”) Because this was my first rhinoplasty, I was very worried, but I am so satisfied.
