18 years ago, I had surgery with Gore-Tex, but the bridge of my nose was too crooked, so I pushed the Gore-Tex a bit, and the upper part lifted. I had it removed only a month or two after surgery, then had revision surgery with silicone, ear cartilage, and septal cartilage. Then 2 years later, the nasal cartilage was too palpable and visible through the skin, so I had dermis added again, and since the silicone was still crooked, they trimmed a little off and reinserted it. I think the bridge of my nose kept getting crooked because my face is asymmetrical. All three surgeries were done with a closed approach, so I want the removal to be done with a closed approach too.. The reason I want removal is that the bridge of my nose keeps becoming bumpy and uneven, and the nasal cartilage shows through too much. I also have pain at the nasal tip, and it feels like the cartilage is about to pierce through soon. When I went around for removal consultations a year ago, they said it could be done with a closed approach (some hospitals said it had to be done open). Yesterday, I went back for another consultation at a hospital that had said a closed approach was possible, but this time they said it has to be done with an open approach There is also calcification around the silicone, and I think there are cartilage adhesions too. I went back for a consultation because I was planning to have the surgery at that hospital, but now that they’re talking about an open approach, I don’t know what to do The reason I’m trying to avoid an open approach is because of scarring. My skin is the type that scars easily, so I want to avoid an open approach. Is there a hospital that is good at removing implants with a closed approach??
