Even after rhinoplasty, my alar bases still spread out quite a bit, so I had a separate alar base reduction. It seems like a really simple surgery, right? But after you get it done, quite a few shortcomings of the nose become more noticeable, and I don’t think clinics tell you that in advance. First, when the distance of the alar bases spreading like / \ gets reduced, in someone like me who has had rhinoplasty, the nasal tip becomes more emphasized and the artificial look gets stronger. By “artificial look,” I mean that as the alar bases are brought inward, the unsophisticated feeling disappears and the nose looks more refined. That’s a huge advantage. But if you have cartilage built up in the nasal tip, it can feel like the area under the nose is struggling to support it? It’s hard to explain, but that feeling becomes stronger. And the nostril shape becomes a bit more vertically elongated like ㅣㅣ, so there’s a chance it can look like a cut-off nose. If your columella projects well and the alar cartilage area is also well developed, you’ll probably be very satisfied after alar base reduction. But if even one of those areas is lacking, those shortcomings gradually become more noticeable after reduction. And on the other hand, since the horizontal width of the nose becomes smaller on the face.. it also seems like the face area looks wider^^ Anyway, when getting alar base reduction, try to predict the after result as much as possible, and if your nose is suitable for it, I hope you give it a try..
