I’ve posted a few times before. I had surgery with a silicone + ear cartilage combination, and right now I don’t have any major issues like inflammation or contracture, just protrusion because the cartilage is being pressed down. My skin is on the thinner side.
I’m planning to have it removed because of psychological anxiety + future pregnancy plans and so on.
At first, when thinking about removal, I just hated all foreign materials and thought I’d be happy even if I only went back to my natural nose. But after consultations, my mind keeps swaying like a reed.
Clinic A: silicone removal + repositioning If needed, take septal cartilage (ear cartilage if there isn’t enough) and leave a support strut. They said they would try to prevent unevenness as much as possible, and it felt conservative. I was interested because using ear cartilage is not a foreign material, but Clinic B mentioned the possibility of shape changes, so I’m confused.
Clinic B: silicone removal + repositioning They said removal alone would be okay, but if I’m worried about depression/indentation, I could consider adding dermis on top (they said it’s up to me and it’s fine not to do it).
There is a cost difference, but it isn’t important to me, so I won’t write it.
A big part of why I’m having surgery is because of my mental distress, so I really hope I won’t feel like I want surgery again afterward. I’m so, so conflicted!!!
I want to minimize foreign materials, but my original nose is low and short, and my nostrils show a little, so it’s not easy. For someone like me, what would be better to choose?
