When I was in middle school, I kept using double eyelid glue, and during the vacation before starting my first year of high school, I ended up getting double eyelid surgery. At that time, I only thought that I wanted double eyelids, so I only did a rough online search and went for a consultation at just one clinic, then had it done right away. I wanted an inline crease, so I showed them photos, and the director was very kind. After marking the crease, since it was my first surgery, I wanted a non-incisional method, but they kept suggesting a partial incision, so I ended up doing a partial incision. After the consultation, I scheduled the surgery right away, and not long after, I had the surgery.
I woke up during sedation anesthesia and could feel everything they were doing during the surgery. The anesthesia hadn’t completely worn off, so it didn’t hurt badly, but does everyone regain consciousness in the middle like that..?
I remember that during the surgery, they touched the eye on the side where I later had side effects more.
About three or four months? after the surgery, my eyes were uneven. I thought maybe the swelling just hadn’t gone down completely yet. But my eyelid kept stinging. Something like a raised inflammation formed and started swelling, so I urgently went to the clinic, and it turned out that a stitch had popped out and was poking my skin; anyway, because of this, it hurt several more times afterward, so I kept going to the clinic and often missed school, which made me feel self-conscious.
After about five months? had passed, I looked at photos my friends had taken of me, and my eyes were seriously, really uneven. In the attached photo, I slightly relaxed my eyes to show the difference clearly, so my expression looks scary;; one side was pinched too tightly and the other side wasn’t pinched enough, so my eyes became seriously asymmetrical.
Because of this, I started hating taking photos and really regretted getting double eyelid surgery.
Now, two years after the surgery, it has gotten slightly better, but my eyes are still noticeably uneven. I thought double eyelid surgery was so common these days that it barely even counted as surgery, so I wondered if it could really fail and didn’t look into it much, but please, everyone, research carefully before doing it.
