Review of My Fourth Revision Rhinoplasty

Over a long 15 years, I had rhinoplasty three times, but problems always followed. My last revision rhinoplasty was the biggest problem. I looked into it carefully and had surgery from someone who was fairly well-known and quite experienced, but the silicone became crooked, my nasal tip was asymmetrical, and even my airway narrowed, causing me so much stress that I developed social anxiety. After 3 years, I felt I couldn’t go on like this, so while spending an enormous amount of time gathering information from various media, online communities, and so on, I came across Director Kim Hyun-joo’s YouTube channel. Should I say I felt some kind of attraction that I couldn’t quite explain? Because of the director’s confident and trustworthy way of speaking, I searched through a huge number of before-and-after photos on the clinic’s website. Revision rhinoplasty seemed to be a given, and they also seemed to have operated on various cases, including revision and reconstruction for contracted nose, so I felt relieved for the time being. After seeing natural surgical results that suited each person’s face rather than blindly flashy noses, I thought, “I want to have my final rhinoplasty at this plastic surgery clinic!” During the first consultation, the director matched the image I had in mind very closely, so I met only that one director and decided right there on the spot. *I also bothered the consultant quite a lot, but every time, she consulted with me so kindly that a lot of my anxiety was relieved. Thank you. Three weeks later, on the day of surgery, my slot was in the afternoon, and I actually think it felt more relaxed and nice. Since it was general anesthesia, I was a little scared, but I felt somewhat reassured because an anesthesiology specialist was on-site. Before the surgery, the director looked over the design in great detail, and when I said that because I’m older, I would like it to look as natural as possible, the director listened carefully to my needs as well. We decided to do the revision surgery using autologous costal cartilage and customized silicone. I lay down on the operating table, had the breathing device put on, shouted, “Please take good care of me,” and fell asleep. Everyone answered kindly, so I was able to fall asleep feeling reassured. After surgery, it was a bit hard because of nasal congestion, but that’s something you have to endure with any rhinoplasty, so it was okay. What was really amazing about this surgery was that the autologous costal cartilage donor area hurt for only about a day or two, and after that it didn’t hurt at all. I had previously had surgery using autologous costal cartilage too and suffered for a month, and it was extremely hard every time I coughed. In that regard, I really thought the title of “rib-removal master” suited the director. I tend to swell a lot more than other people, so I was very worried, but each time I went in, they gave me laser treatment and swelling injections and checked on me carefully, so I think the major swelling went down quickly. There is still some minor swelling left. I asked them to bring my columella down generously(?), and I feel like they paid a lot of attention to that part too, so I’m happy with it. The nasal bridge is balanced, and the nasal tip is not too pointy but softly rounded, so I feel like it harmonizes with my original face. These days, I live for the joy of looking in the mirror. I just hope the remaining minor swelling goes down quickly like this! After a month passes, I want to get some skin care treatments, wear makeup, and go out. I do feel some regret, thinking how nice it would have been if this had been my first surgery, but I’m truly glad that I was able to have surgery from the director even now.
