It's been 3 years since my nose surgery, but I suddenly started disliking the artificial-looking shape + because the silicone is crooked, I decided on complete removal and have been going around for consultations. I already went to my third hospital consultation today, and after one more place, I'll be done visiting clinics. But I'm conflicted about whether to leave the support strut or do complete removal. Each hospital says something different...
Hospital 1 (Apgujeong) If you do complete removal, it could collapse, so let's leave the columellar support strut.
Hospital 2 (Hongdae) Let's place a support strut using autologous costal cartilage or the existing cartilage on the nasal septum.
Hospital 3 (Nonhyeon) Even with complete removal, it absolutely won't collapse. A support strut isn't needed. If we open it up and there is a step-off, we can use AlloDerm. (Because the tone was so certain, I'm actually more worried + suggesting AlloDerm feels a bit like, huh? But only here they said, "Even with complete removal, it won't collapse. A support strut isn't needed" -> I don't know the factual basis for this.)
That's the situation. Is the reason for leaving a support strut... really just to prepare for a possible collapse, just that one reason? If my nose is one where complete removal is possible, I want to do complete removal, but the very certain tone at Hospital 3 + the suggestion to use AlloDerm is bothering me. I'm so conflicted about whether a support strut is really necessary or whether it would be okay without one I searched this community a lot and read a lot of information, but I'm still so torn.
