1-Month Review After Rhinoplasty

I had a complex about my previously large, wide nasal tip (bulbous nose), dorsal hump, and drooping nasal tip, so I decided to have surgery. After visiting about 5 clinics, I decided that I wanted to have it done at this plastic surgery clinic. The reason I chose this clinic among many others was the surgical materials. Other plastic surgery clinics said they lacked enough material, so they would use costal cartilage or silicone, or that even using both septal cartilage and ear cartilage might not be enough. I wanted surgery using autologous cartilage with fewer side effects, and Director Kim Da-alm told me that surgery would be fully possible using only septal cartilage and ear cartilage, so I felt less burdened than at other clinics. After looking into it, I learned that the reason materials differ by clinic is that operating with the minimum necessary materials depends on each doctor’s individual skill. Other clinics said it takes about a week to remove the nasal packing, but at this clinic they removed the cotton packing inside my nose after just one day, so it was a bit more comfortable. By 6 days after surgery, I could breathe little by little and could gradually smell and taste things again. After one week, the splint and external stitches were removed, and now that a month has passed, there is almost no disruption to my daily life. The dorsal hump that had been my complex is completely gone, and I was told that the nasal tip improves as the swelling goes down over about 6 months, so I’m diligently waiting for the swelling to subside.
