I had mine removed first, and after seeing me, my older sister has decided to have hers removed too. My sister currently has an 18-year-old L-shaped silicone implant with ear cartilage placed on top, and she has had consultations at 2 of the 3 well-known removal clinics. They recommended closed removal of the silicone and ear cartilage, cartilage repositioning, and capsule removal, and at one place they said both closed and open approaches are possible. It seemed like they were recommending the open approach more. What I’m most worried about is that with an old L-shaped silicone implant, the alar cartilage is likely very compressed, and even if they do cartilage repositioning, I don’t think it will last permanently. So I told her to also consider revision surgery on the nasal tip with ear cartilage placed on top, but she wants complete removal…
