I was diagnosed at a university hospital with a really tiny nasal bone fracture after getting hurt while playing around, and they said I didn’t need separate surgery.. But after the injury, I kept having trouble breathing through my nose. Seriously.. I felt so suffocated I could die, but Seoul National University Hospital said there was no problem, and Korea University Hospital said it was a tiny fracture so I didn’t need surgery. And the third place I went to, a plastic surgery clinic, also said there was a tiny fracture, so since breathing was the most urgent issue, I looked for a place that was good with both ENT and plastic surgery, found Director Jung Donghak, and went there because it seemed like the best option. As the days went by, I could visibly see my nose becoming crooked, so with correction for a crooked nose after fracture and correction of the pre-existing hump nose included, the surgery cost was pretty expensive. After the surgery, it hurt so much. What the director said after the surgery was that it hadn’t looked very visible in the photos, but once he actually opened it up, it was extremely severely deviated, and he described it as almost carving each piece again and putting it back in.. Since I was doing it anyway, I also wanted some cosmetic improvement, but I said I absolutely didn’t want an implant because I was worried about contracture (the director had recommended silicone). Because I strongly refused, he said he raised the nasal tip and glabella with ear cartilage. But back then, I didn’t think the shape of my ear would change this much.. First of all, the hump itself wasn’t originally a huge source of stress, but I had the hump shaved down. But now that about 4 years have passed, from certain angles the hump shows slightly. Probably because I didn’t put an implant in the nasal bridge.. Also, if too much is shaved off, the nose becomes lower, so I think he made the best choice.. I still don’t have any side effects, but they can appear at any time, so I always live with that concern. Still, my breathing improved completely, 100% after the surgery, so for that alone I’m very relieved and grateful.
