<My strange-looking nose><The green line is my right nostril...><Day of surgery><Day 3>Ahhh..... second costal cartilage harvest When I sit, it hurts like it’s being pressed, so I slowly lie down at an angle. This is my fourth revision surgery, and now I really want to stop... I have no money either, sob sob. Before surgery, I printed out photos of what I wanted and wrote notes too.... (Doctor... I just want to live with the nose I want for once, please) It’s pitiful and funny, but as a desperate fourth-time nose revision patient, there’s no room for that. For my first surgery! For my second! I just trusted them... I thought it would turn out well, that with this much explanation it would be okay. Every time the splint came off, I went through situations like, “Ah wait, this isn’t the nose,” “No, what is this nose?” After experiencing that, I gained the stubbornness and courage to write detailed wishes on the printout too Everyone, I hope you don’t go into revision surgery with the desperate thought that the botched result could be you... (But an acquaintance of an acquaintance of mine has had 6 revision surgeries, and another has had 9;;) Director Lee Jae-jun is known for revision surgery, so I trusted him, but now I know that side effects and failure can happen to me too, of all people haha. For now, I’ll recover carefully. Day of surgery - autologous costal cartilage nose surgery (4th revision). My first-day review: a mild stinging pain as if my nose had been hit, and because my nose was packed with cotton, I lost my sense of smell and taste. And the stiff discomfort of the costal cartilage area (the level of going “ugh” when getting up with force; not pain like “agh, aaagh, uuuugh, aaargh, huuuuh”). My mouth was dry like a drought, so I kept water with me. Almost no bleeding, and I didn’t change the gauze even once. Day 2 - Still dry like a drought, so I kept water with me. Swelling came up (I’m not the type to swell much). No bruising. Pain hurts, hurts, the costal cartilage area hurts too Runny fluid? discharge? coming out with all the cotton soaked, mixed with blood, so I changed the gauze 5-6 times. (It was never soaked through heavily.) Day 3 - No swelling at all and no bruising either. It was the day to remove the cotton, so after removing it I felt so comfortable. The inside of my nose stings and makes me sneeze. After taking out the cotton, I got huge nostrils. Day 4 - Still no swelling or bruising (seems like swelling is over now). The splint is itchy~ No nose pain, but once in a while it feels like it’s being pulled upward. Stiffness at the costal cartilage harvest site and slight tingling pain. Fully back to everyday-life condition! Day 5 - I don’t think there will be any major issues until the day the splint comes off (since there’s no swelling or bruising...). Before revision surgery, when I saw pretty noses on Instagram, I would DM and explain how serious my nose was This clinic was one of the places on the list I had saved. My nose was pretty serious in various ways. (On the outside, it had a totally strange columella shape completely different from the nose I had described, and the line from the sunken nasal bridge to the nasal tip looked as if the nasal tip line had been contoured. The columellar angle was seriously strange, like a drawing from a webtoon. (My nose was a botched result.) Inside my nose, right after surgery, my right nostril was blocked. On the CT taken at the clinic, the opening I could breathe through was basically the thickness of dust lol. The silicone implant was also crooked. I didn’t want to go back to the previous hospital or have revision there, so I turned away and thought I’d do it someday.... More than 2 years passed before I finally thought, “I really have to do this,” and I toured the bucket-list hospitals I had saved..... After consultations, the place I chose was this clinic. I heard Director Lee Jae-jun was famous for revision surgery (first of all, the nose of the person I got information from on Instagram was so my style, and the other reviews too). The aesthetic part was serious for me too, but the functional part was also crooked, deviated, and blocked... it was a total mess. So design was important, but I really had to meet a doctor who handles noses well. It’s only day 5, but the line connecting the nasal tip to the philtrum has become normally pretty, so I’m happy I also like that lowering the starting point of the silicone implant seems to have gone well haha. (They said the previous silicone implant went all the way up to my forehead line;; refer to the attached CT photo.) I’ll have to wait longer to know about the nasal congestion in my right nostril, but I don’t think it will improve 100%. It would be nice if everything were perfect, but now I know that no matter how much cosmetic surgery you get, there’s no such thing as perfect... I just hope to get back my own nose without discomfort!!
